THE*GA*GA*S – Left Of Centre

April 4, 2005 by Rich Leave a Comment

In fairness to the band, it was always going to be hard up to live up to the awesome debut single of the storming ‘Sex,’ but I think they have done a pretty good job of picking their second single and picked a song that although not as great, still isn’t a bad tune by any stretch of imagination. I really like this band –they really are a shining torch for British Rock, and one of the few bands that can cut it in this day and age.

‘Left Of The Centre’ is a pretty good effort with some storming guitars, great bass lines, and strong vocals, as well as some really cool drum beats. It hasn’t got such a memorable chorus as ‘Sex’ and is by no means as catchy but in its own right it’s still pretty good. I think if the band had released this single before they released ‘Sex’ then I’d probably appreciate it more and think more of it, but the problem is – they didn’t. I say this is a problem, but the fact that they had such an energetic and exciting debut was good as it gave them an edge as people hearing that track definitely wouldn’t have forgotten it in a hurry, or in fact forgotten the band.

Hopefully, on the basis of the position that debut single ‘Sex’ has put them in will give THE*GA*GA*S a strong chance of success with new single ‘Left Of Centre.’ It’s probably more radio friendly with its mellower, laid back feel and is certainly well worth checking out if you are a fan of Rock‘n’Roll music.

THE*GA*GA*S – Sex

December 31, 2004 by Rich Leave a Comment

THE*GA*GA*S are a lot better than what I was expecting them to be. When I received this CD my first thoughts were that THE*GA*GA*S would be another mediocre band of the ‘The’ band garage rock society. Luckily they are definitely not this and what they actually are is an exciting up and coming UK Rock band with a hell of a talent.

‘Sex’ is the first commercial single to be lifted from the bands album which will be released through Sanctuary Records on the 7th of February. It has fast, exciting guitars which drive the band with awesome bass lines, great drum beats and truly exquisite vocals. This single is a sure fire success and as far as commercial debut singles go it is absolutely perfect. With its ever catchy beat, and strong vocal firing of the word ‘Sex’ it is sure to stay fresh in everyone’s mind, never to be forgotten. With this single, not only do you get the cracking tune of ‘Sex’ but you also get the hammering ‘Exit Lights.’ This is another storming tune where the band again show their passion for the music which they create and offer up another electric, fast paced blinder of a track.

This band is amazingly talented, and with this crushing single they are sure to shoot to stardom. Many UK bands have broken through in 2004 so I am sure that THE*GA*GA*S will continue this trend into 2005 and be one of the success stories of the year. Sanctuary Records are set to unleash the beast on January 31st.
