November 12, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Soccer Six 2013

Featuring the likes of Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, The Blackout, Rise Against, and Kids In Glass Houses, Soccer Six 2013 will be taking place this Friday, with all profits from the event going towards the Hearts and Goals charity set up by Fabrice Muamba.

Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest live on television in 2012 whilst playing for Bolton Wanderers against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane; quick action and strong knowledge of AED and CPR saved Fabrice Muamba’s life at White Hart Lane on March 17th 2012, and he has set up the Hearts and Goals charity in support for all communities to have access to a defibrillator, be AED and CPR trained, and to help take part in saving tens of thousands of lives every year.

Soccer Six 2013 will take place on Friday 15th November at the London Soccerdome located near North Greenwich tube station, with standard tickets for the event available at a price of £10 per ticket and VIP tickets also available for £20 each.

Full details about the event can be found at the official Soccer Six 2013 website.

Rise Against – Hero of War

July 22, 2009 by Rich 1 Comment

Rise Against - Hero of WarTaken from Rise Against’s ‘Appeal to Reason’ album, ‘Hero of War’ is a very nice acoustic track featuring hard hitting, heartfelt lyrics. It’s the only acoustic track from the album, and given its high quality it really is a shame really that the band didn’t choose to further explore this acoustic area on the album.

‘Hero of War’ looks into the subject of the Iraq War, and is written from the perspective of a veteran of the war. The lyrics are absolutely brilliant, and the laid back approach taken here really does come across well on record. Tim McIlrath’s vocals are excellent as ever, and a huge amount of passion can here be heard coming through in the sound.

In terms of style, ‘Hero of War’ is not your typical Rise Against track; it’s mellow and acoustic, it does however contain all the passion you’d expect of the band and more. ‘Hero of War’ really is an excellent track to listen to, with lyrics well worthy of your admiration.

Rise Against – Audience of One

March 10, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Rise Against - Audience of OneRise Against really set the bar high with first three albums ‘The Unraveling’, ‘Revolutions per Minute’, and ‘Siren Song of the Counter Culture’. Putting to record some incredibly intelligent pieces of music; Rise Against won fans all around the world, impressing many with their finely worked material.

It’s a shame, but the band that was once full of passion, bite, and enthusiasm now seems a little limp. ‘Audience of One’ is an okay track, nothing hugely special though, and certainly not evidence of Rise Against at its very best. The songwriting just doesn’t seem to be of the same level as it once was; Tim McIlrath’s heart seemingly isn’t in it in the same way, and the track lacks fire.

With ‘Audience of One’ it sounds as though Rise Against isn’t enjoying creating music anymore, the life has been sucked out of the music, and the band just sounds a little bored with it all.

Hopefully Rise Against can bounce back from this, with time the passion will perhaps return, and maybe then the band will once more release an album that will blow all away that listen to it. On the evidence of ‘Audience of One’, Rise Against has hit a bad patch right now though, and one can only hope that the passion will return in the future.
