Should You Be Saving Your Hourglasses in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

January 2, 2025 by Rich Leave a Comment

Is it worth using your pack hourglasses right now in Pokémon TCG Pocket, or should you be keeping hold of them and finding out what’s next before deciding how you’re going to use them?

A new set of cards is rumoured to be releasing towards the end of January, and between now and then you’ve got over 50 opportunities to open packs, even if you don’t use any of your hourglasses.

It’s therefore quite realistically possible that you should be able to collect most cards from the Mythical Island expansion before the end of January, and keeping hold of all your hourglasses is probably the smartest move possible right now.

It’s definitely not as fun as frantically ripping your way through them though, so will you be favouring instant gratification? Or have you already started preparing for what’s next?

Do You Need to Spend Money on Pokémon TCG Pocket?

December 11, 2024 by Rich Leave a Comment

If you want to collect every single card currently available in Pokémon TCG Pocket? It probably won’t come cheap as right now you’ll need to open around $3000 worth of packs to do so.

Do you need to spend money on the game though? And should you?

That’s what we’ll be taking a look at here, exploring whether or not you’ll be at a serious disadvantage right now if you don’t invest, and also the potential pitfalls if you do.

Watch the first ever episode of the Pokémon anime series (Indigo League)

December 7, 2024 by Rich Leave a Comment

Pokémon TV is officially now back, enabling you to watch full episodes of the Pokémon anime series right now, completely for free, over on YouTube.

They’re starting out from the beginning, uploading episodes from the initial Indigo League series (the first episode of which, Pokémon, I Choose You!, can be found embedded above), and presumably, in time, they’ll be working right up to the present day and providing a definitive destination online for you to seek out the entire series.

Things started out a little bit strangely, with the first episode uploaded being Season 1 Episode 5, Showdown in Pewter City, things seem to have switched to a chronological order now, however, and presumably that’s the way that things will remain moving forwards.

What’s your favourite ever season of the Pokémon anime series?

Are Bent Packs Better in TCG Pocket?

November 6, 2024 by Rich Leave a Comment

Whenever a new game is released, people are always quick to search for exploits, and this is certainly no different with the latest Pokémon themed mobile game, Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Pokémon TCG Pocket recently received its official worldwide release, and players have been quick to come up with theories over potential exploits and pack methods to help maximise your returns.

The ‘bent pack’ method is one such potential exploit, whereby some packs are visually different from the others, featuring crimpled corners, just as they might if you were to pick them up from a shop, or how they might sometimes appear when you remove them from a booster tin.

Is there any validity to the claims that packs with bent corners will provide you with a greater chance of receiving something good though? Probably not. It’s a fun thought though, and is something to potentially look out for when you’re playing the game that might help you wile away a few extra minutes in your quest to avoid your responsibilities and seek out that dopamine hit of packing a shiny Charizard or whatever other rare Pokémon you might be seeking out in the game.

Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Stadium 2 now available on Nintendo Switch Online

August 8, 2023 by Rich Leave a Comment

Originally released in Europe in the year 2000 for the Game Boy Color, the Pokémon Trading Card Game is now available via the Nintendo Switch Online store, as too is Pokémon Stadium 2.

As someone that was a huge fan of the original Pokémon Trading Card Game (and that owned the complete Base, Jungle and Fossil sets that the game was based around); this is huge news that the game will now be accessible on Nintendo Switch, and should bring a whole new audience to what was the first video game adaptation of the real life Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Pokémon Stadium 2 meanwhile was first released in Europe in 2001, and although it wasn’t quite as successful as its predecessor Pokémon Stadium; it did go on to sell over 2.5 million units worldwide, ranking it inside the top 20 best selling video games on the console.

Both games are officially available now via Nintendo’s online subscription service.

Its name and nature is currently shrouded in mystery, but it is set to feature in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the brand new DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
