Coldplay – Talk

January 9, 2006 by Rich Leave a Comment

This is the third single to be taken from the bands amazing ‘X&Y’ album and I definitely think that this is a wise move by the band as it is probably one of my favourite tracks from the album. This is an excellently written track, borrowing the riff from Kraftwerk’s ‘Computer Love’ and in doing so creating a dreamy, truly atmospheric song that is hard not to appreciate. This song explicitly highlights the bands amazing song writing capabilities and shows that the band are still going strong as we enter into 2006.

I really enjoyed the bands ‘X&Y’ album and feel that although there are weaker songs on the album, this is a song that encapsulates Coldplay at their best and shows that they are still one of the greatest British bands of our time. ‘Talk’ is an extremely enigmatic song and is one that I am sure will become a classic given a few years. Although Coldplay are a band that will not be to everybody’s taste, there is no denying that there is significant talent in this band, and that over the years the band have written some truly inspirational material that will be sure to inspire musicians of the future.

Coldplay – Speed of Sound

May 19, 2005 by Rich Leave a Comment

Coldplay are set to return on June the 6th with the release of ‘X&Y’ – their first album since 2003’s commercial success ‘Parachutes.’ The first single to be taken from this new album is to be ‘Speed of Sound’ and will be released on Monday the 23rd of May. Coldplay are heading out on tour in June/July so if you get a chance, make sure you check them out as they are sure to put on an explosive show of genius display.

‘Speed of Sound’ is a great single, and Coldplay are showing no signs of losing their melodious catchiness. Right from the off set you can tell that this is going to be another great Coldplay display, and by the end of its 5 minutes you are left happy and content, wishing for more from this great band. The single also features two other tracks – ‘Things I Don’t Understand’ and ‘Proof,’ which are two tracks taken from the ‘X&Y’ sessions.

Coldplay still hold as much relevance in the scene as they did two years ago – their return is definitely something to celebrate and if this new track is anything to go by, then their album will most certainly be full of surprises and inevitably full of excellence. This is an essential purchase for avid Coldplay fans, so you should definitely be rushing out and buying this little number when it’s released this coming Monday.
