Senser – Resistance Now

August 29, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Senser - Resistance Now‘Resistance Now’ is the powerful new single from the London based sextet that is Senser. Senser achieved fantastic success in the mid-90s when debut album ‘Stacked Up’ hit number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart, and the band has since gone on to release a further three studio albums.

Senser will release fifth studio album ‘How To Do Battle’ in October 2009, and ‘Resistance Now’ has been chosen as the lead single. With its crushing chorus, powerful guitar work, and excellent male/female dual vocal display; ‘Resistance Now’ is a track that is sure to impress many, and will no doubt be played at many a rock night in the coming months and years. The lyrics hit hard, the energy of the track is incredible, and as the band launches its way through this one, the music always here has a lot to offer.

A Firefarm and Peak ‘2 3 Clear’ remix is included here as a B-Side, a punchy little track that reminds me very much of The Prodigy. It’s a different kind of track to ‘Resistance Now’, equally effective in its own way though, showing Senser to be a band of great versatility with the ability to pull off strongly different styles and genres.

October 19th is a date to write down in your diary as that’s when Senser’s ‘How To Do Battle’ album is to be released, and judging by the quality of ‘Resistance Now’, it really is an album that you don’t want to be missing.

Left Side Brain – Colloblast

August 28, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Left Side Brain - Collider‘Colloblast’ is the latest single from the brilliant Bristol-based band that is Left Side Brain, and it must be said that it really is an incredibly impressive piece of music. The vocals pack a hefty punch, the guitar work is excellent, and everything about the track really does work well.

With this track the band demonstrates its powerful rock formula superbly well, with the guitar and vocal work always having a lot to offer all throughout the track. B-Side ‘Severed’ is a cover of a Kerbdog track, and the band here shows absolutely incredible instrumental strength. Left Side Brain’s ‘Severed’ is to be featured on the Kerbdog tribute album ‘Pledge: A Tribute to Kerbdog’, due for release in 2010, and this will definitely be an album to watch out for.

Both tracks here present Left Side Brain in a very positive light, and fans of rock music should definitely like what they hear. ‘Colloblast’ is a fantastic single for Left Side Brain to have come out with, and the cover track really does work well as the B-Side.

Be sure to give Left Side Brain’s ‘Colloblast’ a listen, and you’ll no doubt be impressed with what the band here has to offer.

Madina Lake – Let’s Get Outta Here

August 11, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Madina Lake - Let's Get Outta Here‘Let’s Get Outta Here’ is the second single from Madina Lake’s sophomore album ‘Attics to Eden’. It’s a fun song from the band, and comes complete with some incredibly memorable lyrical lines and powerful guitar work also. The chorus is supremely catchy, and at all times here the music really does have a lot to offer. Nathan Leone’s vocal work is truly incredible at all times, and whilst listening to the track it’s definitely his vocals that stand out most strongly.

‘Never Take Us Alive’ was a brilliant first single for the band to release, ‘Let’s Get Outta Here’ is an arguably even better follow-up however, and is a single that should well win the band a good few extra fans.

Be sure to give ‘Let’s Get Outta Here’ a listen, and if you like what you hear then definitely consider investing in the ‘Attics to Eden’ album as it surely won’t leave you disappointed.

David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland – When Love Takes Over

July 30, 2009 by Rich 1 Comment

David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes OverThe first single from David Guetta’s ‘One Love’ album, ‘When Loves Takes Over’ features the beautiful vocals of Kelly Rowland, and samples the phenomenal piano hook from Coldplay’s ‘Clocks’. It’s an incredibly catchy piece of music, and the sample has most definitely been utilised to absolute perfection here. ‘Clocks’ has been one of my favourite Coldplay songs for some time now, the piano hook taken out of its original context just seems to sound even better however, and provides the perfect sound for Kelly Rowland’s vocals to rest atop of.

Kelly Rowland’s vocals really are excellent here, and everything about the track has just been put together brilliantly. David Guetta has definitely done a very good job with ‘When Love Takes Over’, and it’s no surprise really that this track has hit the number one spot in multiple different countries throughout Europe. ‘When Love Takes Over’ even went to number one in the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart, so it really is a top dance track that has taken the world by storm.

‘When Love Takes Over’ is a simple track in terms of its composition, despite its simple nature it works incredibly well though, and is a definite dance track to be listening to this summer. This track has already gone down incredibly well with the masses, and will no doubt be filling dancefloors for many months to come.

Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling

July 29, 2009 by Rich 2 Comments

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling‘I Gotta Feeling’ is the second released single from the fifth Black Eyed Peas studio album ‘The E.N.D.’ An incredibly catchy piece of music, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ also happens to be supremely simple, something that definitely suits the track well. It’s a fun track; uplifting, and always very pleasant to listen to.

This is an excellent follow up single to ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and equally catchy also. You’d think that ‘Boom Boom Pow’ would be a very tricky track to follow, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ has certainly been chosen very well however, with the band leaping from one huge track to another.

‘I Gotta Feeling’ is a definite feel good track, a song that is sure to brighten your mood as you listen. David Guetta has done an incredible job producing this track, the group has written a song to be very proud of, and I just find ‘I Gotta Feeling’ to be absolutely flawless.

Pitbull – I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)

July 29, 2009 by Rich 2 Comments

Pitbull - I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)’ is the second single from Pitbull’s upcoming ‘Rebelution’ album. It’s a very simple track with a basic beat and repetitive lyrics; despite the basic nature of the beat, this area of the track is still pretty impressive however, and most definitely what stands out most about the music. For me the lyrics have far too little to offer though and this therefore limits the overall listening pleasure that I get from the track.

With more adventurous lyrics this track I feel could be far more effective; limited lyrics or not however, ‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)’ is sure to be a huge hit throughout the summer, and will no doubt be played at many a nightclub throughout the course of the coming weeks and months.

‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)’ sees Pitbull continue to combine hip-hop with dance, and it’ll be interesting to hear what his ‘Rebelution’ album has to offer when it’s released later this year.

Fightstar – Battlefield

July 28, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Fightstar - BattlefieldEntering into the Radio 1 Live Lounge, English rock band Fightstar decided to do a cover of the Jordin Sparks track ‘Battlefield’, as well as a live rendition of the band’s very own ‘Never Change’ single. It’s the ‘Battlefield’ cover that has particularly impressed me, and it must be said that it really is an excellent cover track; arguably better than the Jordin Sparks original in fact.

An incredible acoustic track, Charlie Simpson’s vocals really are excellent here, and as the track progresses his vocals always have a lot to offer. The music has been really very well presented here, and although I’m not usually a fan of cover tracks; I certainly like Fightstar’s version of ‘Battlefield’.

There’s something incredibly relaxing about this cover track, and it’s very easy just to sit back and let all your worries leave you as you listen. Fightstar’s ‘Battlefield’ cover is most definitely a track that I’d recommend all to listen to, and if you do decide to give the track a listen then hopefully you’ll enjoy it just as much as I do.

Fightstar can be seen performing ‘Battlefield’ right now over at the Radio 1 Live Lounge website.

Green Day – 21 Guns

July 28, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Green Day - 21 Guns’21 Guns’ is the second single from the eighth Green Day studio album ’21st Century Breakdown’. It’s a pleasant track to listen to, not particularly hard hitting however, and it’s quite possible that this one will be largely ignored by the single buying public.

Billie Joe Armstrong’s vocal work is incredibly impressive here; gentle yet effective, the track as a whole though is perhaps a little on the flat side, and instrumentally a lot more could definitely be offered here.

’21 Guns’ is not a bad song, it’s not one of Green Day’s best though, and could definitely pack a heftier punch. It’s a nice enough piece of music to listen to, I very much doubt however that in fifteen years time ’21 Guns’ will be remembered so fondly as tracks such as ‘Basket Case’ and ‘When I Come Around’ from the ‘Dookie’ album are today.

Green Day is a band that has changed a lot throughout the years, ’21 Guns’ is now where the band is at however, and I’m sure this is a track that many will enjoy massively.

Lady Gaga – Paparazzi

July 27, 2009 by Rich 1 Comment

Lady Gaga - Paparazzi‘Paparazzi’ is the third single from American pop sensation Lady Gaga. Ditching the uptempo dance sound that she showcased with previous singles ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’, Lady Gaga here decides to slow things down a touch, and does an incredibly good job of it too.

‘Paparazzi’, whilst slowing things down still manages to be energetic and exciting, and provides for a very satisfying listening experience. Lady Gaga’s vocals are excellent as always here, and the accompanying beat is also incredibly impressive. The lyrics work well, and it’s just a very nicely presented piece of pop music.

Lady Gaga is hugely successful right now, and for good reason too; she really is talented, and no doubt has an excellent career ahead of her in music.

Cascada – Evacuate the Dancefloor

July 26, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Cascada - Evacuate the DancefloorGerman dance group Cascada has achieved a lot since first bursting onto the scene back in 2004; three studio albums have now been released, the latest of which is ‘Evacuate the Dancefloor’.

Title track ‘Evacuate the Danclefoor’ is the lead single from the group’s third studio album, and really is an incredibly catchy offering of dance music. It’s bouncy, fun, and with this track the group really does impress hugely. The chorus is absolutely infectious, and it’s not difficult to hear why this track is doing so well in Europe. ‘Evacuate the Dancefloor’ has peaked at number 4 in the European Hot 100, and has even hit the top spot here in the UK. ‘Evacuate the Dancefloor’ is arguably Cascada’s best single to date, and if you like your electropop then there’s a good chance that you’ll be impressed by this single from Cascada.

‘Evacuate the Dancefloor’ is a definite feel good anthem, and will no doubt be filling dancefloors all throughout the summer months and beyond.
