September 3, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Fifty Shades of Grey

Having recently appeared in the huge box office smash Pacific Rim, Charlie Hunnam has now been cast to play Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Dakota Johnson has also been handed a starring role in the film, and will appear as the female lead, Anastasia Steele.

Dakota Johnson has previously appeared in movies such as The Social Network, 21 Jump Street, and The Five-Year Engagement, and 2014 looks to be a big year for the young actress as she is also set to appear in the Need for Speed film and Cymbeline, a drama based on the play of the same name written by William Shakespeare.

Charlie Hunnam landed his first acting role in 1998 with a part in the British television series Byker Grove, and in recent years he has enjoyed great success with a central role in the extremely popular Sons of Anarchy series.

Fifty Shades of Grey is the first book in the Fifty Shades trilogy, and the film adaptation is set to hit the cinemas on August 1st 2014.

Breed 77 unveil new lead singer Rui Lopez

September 2, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Rui Lopez (Breed 77)

After 17 years with founding member Paul Isola as lead vocalist, London based Gibraltarian rock band Breed 77 have announced that a change of vocalist is to occur, with the band having released the following statement regarding the lineup change:

In the light of recent developments within the Breed 77 camp, we have to announce that vocalist Paul Isola has decided to part company with Breed 77 and will be playing his last show with us on 10th September at a National Day concert in Gibraltar.

We wish him all the best for the future and still remain best of friends with him. Now, for the great good news!! We want you to welcome to the band our amazing new vocalist Rui Lopez who some of you have already had the chance to hear live with us on our recent German dates [and secret warm-up show in London prior to these]. For those of you coming down to our shows at the end of this week you are in for a treat as you will have the chance to hear Rui for the first time at a headline show in the UK.

Paul Isola had the following to say regarding his decision to depart the band:

Hello friends, it is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that I am leaving Breed 77. It is not a decision I have taken lightly, to be honest I have been struggling with it for a few months now. My reasons for leaving are very personal, but I feel I owe you some kind of explanation.

Firstly, I would like to make clear that the split is completely amicable and I continue to love and support my brothers in the band, as they have done for me during this difficult time.

Being in a band like Breed 77 is a full-time commitment, night and day, all or nothing is the only way we know, and now, with the state of the music industry it is increasingly a struggle – recently due to personal circumstances I have found that I could not commit in that way and that I found at times that I had no fight left. I have been in this band for more than half of my entire life and I love it as if it were my own child, and I feel that I cannot give this child anymore of myself right now. I feel that I have neglected parts of my life and am suffering for it, as are my loved ones around me.

All my love and thanks goes to everyone out there who came to our shows, bought our records and continue to support the band, you have been my extended family for what seems like an eternity and I will miss you dearly. We shared many great moments which I will treasure till I die – I hope I was always at my best and you appreciated I gave you my all every second I was behind the microphone.

I feel I leave the band in good hands, I have been lucky enough to spend some time with Rui and I think he’s a great singer and good guy, I hope you will share your energy with him as you have done with me for so long. In some way I will always be a part of Breed 77 and Breed 77 is a part of me – I wish them all the best and I’m sure that great things are still in the future for the band.

Peace and Love

P

The Wombles are returning to our TV Screens in 2015

August 28, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

The Wombles

Complete with a CGI makeover, The Wombles will be returning to our screens via Dramatico Animation Ltd in 2015, with a series of 52 x 11 minute episodes scheduled to be aired on Channel 5’s Milkshake slot.

The Wombles were originally created by Elizabeth Beresford in six novels first published in the UK between 1968 and 1976, and the BBC ran two stop-motion series of The Wombles between 1973 and 1975. In 1995 Cinar produced a stop-motion series of the show for ITV, and it has now been picked up for a return in 2015 with the belief of Mike Batt (who wrote the music for the TV series/pop group and is now the co-executive producer of the show) that “there are audiences of new children and international audiences who missed The Wombles the first time around and will be thrilled to see the brilliant high quality animation and new musical productions we shall be mounting”.

Adding to what Mike Batt has said of The Wombles’ return, Genevieve Dexter of Serious Lunch, co-executive producer of the show, had the following to say:

Many people have attempted to bring back classic properties, and failed. What sets The Wombles apart is that they were ahead of their time, as the first recycling enthusiasts and with the extra dimension of the band which brought them to a family arena. The rights have now been regrouped and adapted for 21st century tastes and media consumption, although the relevance of the original themes holds strong and the messages therein are perhaps even more widely accepted today.

Eminem releases new ‘Berzerk’ Single

August 27, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Eminem - Berzerk

Eminem will release eighth studio album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2‘ later this year, the sequel to ‘The Marshall Mathers LP‘ which was released via Interscope Records back in 2000.

‘Berzerk‘ is the first single lifted from the upcoming Eminem album, a four minute track featuring a huge amount of energy from the world-renowned American rapper.

Although the first single to be officially released from the new album, ‘Berzerk‘ is actually the second track from the album to be unveiled, following on from ‘Survival‘ which is to be featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts, an upcoming game in the popular Call of Duty video game series.

Eminem recently appeared at the Reading/Leeds festivals, causing controversy amongst fans when he did not give permission for the BBC to broadcast his performance as a part of their TV/online coverage of the festival.

Off the back of his performances at Reading/Leeds, Eminem now official releases this new ‘Berzerk‘ single to the masses, a single that you can listen to below.
