December 3, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

blink-182-o2-arena

With a new blink-182 album expected to drop at some point in 2014, it has now been confirmed that the band will headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2014 for what will be their only UK tour date of the year. Presumably the band will then follow this up with a full tour of the UK in 2015.

blink-182 vocalist/bassist Mark Hoppus had the following to say about the band’s return to these great British festivals:

I’m stoked to play Reading & Leeds 2014. It’s our fourth time playing the festivals, and we’re very honoured. The new year will see us in the studio preparing new music, getting ready to rock the fine people of the UK. Prepare for the fury.

Disclosure, Metronomy, Jake Bugg, Wilkinson, Of Mice & Men and I Am Legion are the other artists to have been confirmed for the festivals so far.

The Sea release official video for ‘Get Up, Stand Up, Die’

December 1, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

The Sea (Band)

For those that like their music stripped back and extremely hard-hitting, ‘Get Up, Stand Up, Die‘ from The Sea really is a track that is well worth listening to.

With the band only consisting of two members, brothers Alex and Peter, The Sea is a band that comes complete with its own remarkable story with drummer Alex having survived a broken neck that he picked up whilst surfing in 2009. Although it was in doubt whether he’d even walk again, let alone drum again, Alex ultimately made a triumphant return to the sticks and can now be found back at his very drumming best.

‘Get Up, Stand Up, Die‘ is a sub 2 minute track featuring a huge amount of energy and excitement; for a two-piece The Sea certainly manage to make a huge amount of noise, providing a fast and furious piece of music here that really does have much to admire about it.

‘Get Up, Stand Up, Die‘ will be officially released on January 20th and you can check out the official video for the track below:

Lostprophets release statement regarding Ian Watkins

December 1, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Following on from Ian Watkins’ guilty plea earlier in the week in admission of committing child sex offences, Watkins’ former Lostprophets bandmates have now released a statement which can be read in its entirety below:

Earlier this week, we learned that the allegations of child sexual abuse against Ian were true, and that he would not be contesting them in court. Until then, we found them extremely difficult to believe and had hoped it was all a mistake. Sadly, the true extent of his appalling behaviour is now impossible to deny.

Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not. We knew that Ian was a difficult character. Our personal relationships with him had deteriorated in recent years to a point that working together was a constant, miserable challenge. But despite his battles with drugs, his egotistic behaviour, and the resulting fractures and frustrations within our band, we never imagined him capable of behaviour of the type he has now admitted.

We are heartbroken, angry, and disgusted at what has been revealed. This is something that will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Being in a band has always been a labour of love and a platform to inspire people, not to take advantage of them. It’s still hard to believe this is happening and that someone we were once so close to has destroyed so many lives, lying every step of the way.
Our hearts go out to Ian’s family, the fans and friends he betrayed, and most importantly, the victims of his crimes and others like them. We hope for justice, but also that Ian will truly take responsibility for what he’s done. We would urge any other victims to contact the authorities.
