JLS Hit the Number One Spot With ‘Beat Again’

July 19, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

JLS - Beat AgainJLS has officially hit the number one spot in the UK with debut single ‘Beat Again’. The band finished second on the X-Factor back in December 2008, despite not winning the competition however, seven months on the band is now experiencing supreme success.

‘Beat Again’ truly is an incredibly impressive first single from the band, and it’ll definitely be interesting to hear what the JLS debut album has to offer when it’s released later this year. This single certainly seems to suggest that the album will have a lot to offer, we’ll just have to wait and see though, and hopefully with the album the band will indeed deliver.

‘Beat Again’ was released on July 12th through Epic, and featured below is the official ‘Beat Again’ video:

New Vocalist for Your Demise

July 18, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Your DemiseYour Demise has parted company with vocalist George Noble, replacing him with Centurion vocalist Ed McRae. The band has recently signed a deal with US hardcore label Earache Records, and with George Noble unable to commit to the heavy tour schedule required; the band has decided that the best course of action would be to replace him, and brought in the hugely talented Ed McRae.

Your Demise will be touring the UK in September, complete with new vocalist Ed McRae. This will give fans a first opportunity to see the band complete with the new singer, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how Ed McRae fits in with his new band mates.

The following are the tour dates for Your Demise’s September tour with Misery Signals:

September
20 – SOUTHAMPTON The Joiners
21 – NEWPORT TJ’s
22 – SHEFFIELD Corpoartion

26 – LEEDS Josephs Well
27 – MANCHESTER Moho Live

Thom Yorke and Kings of Leon to Feature on the New Moon Sountrack?

July 18, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

Chris Weitz has spoken out about the soundtrack to the second Twilight series film, and had the following to say regarding what he has lined up for it:

Fortunately, I’m not at the stage where I have to turn anybody down yet, because everything is still kind of up in the air, but I am surprised at some of the bands that have said they’re interested. It’s kind of great. The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested. We might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something… It’s exciting to be able to have access to this kind of talent.

Hong Kong Phooey is Heading to the Big Screen

July 13, 2009 by Rich 4 Comments

Hong Kong Phooey
Hong Kong Phooey is to be made into a live action film, and David A. Goodman is writing the script. Goodman has written for Futurama and Family Guy in the past, and has also written for Star Trek: Enterprise. Alex Zamm is to direct, and he has in the past directed such films as Inspector Gadget 2, The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It, and Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts.

Hong Kong Phooey could be a success, the signs seem to suggest that the film is destined to failure however, and it’s unlikely to be a film that many will be flocking to see.

Hong Kong Phooey is a classic 70s cartoon series, it’s been more than 20 years since the world lost Scatman Crothers though, and without him voicing Hong Kong Phooey it’s rather doubtful that there’ll be too much demand for this Hong Kong Phooey film.

Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern

July 12, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

green-lanternRyan Reynolds has bagged the lead role in Warner Bros. Green Lantern. Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper were both also up for the part; Ryan Reynolds is the man that has been chosen though, and will therefore play the role of Hal Jordan.

Reynolds seems to be an excellent choice for the part, and with Ryan Reynolds as the star; Warner Bros. live-action version of Green Lantern should most definitely be a huge success. I’ve long been a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds, and this role will really give him a great opportunity to show the world what he’s made of, starring in a film which will surely be excellent.

Green Lantern is due to begin filming in January, and the film is currently expected to hit the cinemas in June 2011.

Ron Howard to Direct Stretch Armstrong?

June 14, 2009 by Rich 1 Comment

Stretch Armstrong
Rumours are currently spreading around the web that Ron Howard is to direct Stretch Armstrong, a film due for release in April 2011. Business Week got people talking by saying that Howard is to direct the film, is it really plausible though that such a high quality director genuinely is directing Stretch Armstrong, or is this just a mistake?

Ron Howard’s Angels & Demons recently hit cinemas around the world, and Howard has an impressive back catalogue which includes such films as Cocoon, A Beautiful Mind, and Apollo 13. He’s won Oscar’s for his work, what needs to be remembered here though is that one of Howard’s Oscar’s was for 2000s How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

It is possible that Ron Howard could direct Stretch Armstrong, and if he does then he’ll surely do an excellent job; is it likely that he will direct the film though? I’m not really sure.

Brian Grazer is producing Stretch Armstrong, and this may have been the reason for the confusion (if indeed there is any confusion), as Grazer is co-chairman of Imagine Entertainment along with Ron Howard. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard have worked together for a number of films throughout the years, and it may have been assumed by Business Week that this was again the case here. At the same time they might know something that we don’t though, and maybe Ron Howard really will be directing Stretch Armstrong.

Right now there’s no official word about who will be directing Stretch Armstrong; if Ron Howard does direct it then I’d like to see what he can do with it though, and am currently feeling quite excited at the prospect of a Ron Howard directed Stretch Armstrong film.

Neil Marshall in Talks to Direct Robert Rodriguez’ Predators

June 13, 2009 by Rich 1 Comment

PredatorBloody Disgusting has been tipped off by a “100% reliable source” that Neil Marshall is in talks to direct Robert Rodriguez’ Predators. The English director’s last film was Doomsday in 2008, and did of course famously direct The Descent in 2005, a film that went on to gross more than $57 million.

Neil Marshall first impressed us with his talents back in 2002 with Dog Soldiers, and since then the popular English horror director has gone from strength to strength. Marshall has built quite a name for himself with the horror films that he’s directed thus far, and if he does indeed direct Predators then it’ll be interesting to see what he can do with the film.

Marshall is yet to be confirmed as the Predators director, he’s the current favourite to get the job though, although there are still several names in the running.

The Final Destination Trailer

June 11, 2009 by Rich Leave a Comment

The Final Destination is coming to our screens in August, directed by the same man that brought us the second (and in my opinion, best) Final Destination film; David R. Ellis. Final Destination 2 was an incredibly powerful film, and from the looks of the The Final Destination trailer; we can expect more of the same from this film also.

James Wong may well choose to make a fifth film and completely ignore The Final Destination whilst telling the story; that remains to be seen, I am very excited about August arriving though, and can’t wait to see The Final Destination in the cinema.

The film will be released in 3-D, do we really care about that though? I’m just excited to see another Final Destination film, and 3-D or not, this is a film that I for one am most definitely not going to miss.

Here is The Final Destination trailer:
