Best Young Strikers in Football Manager 2014

April 23, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

Football Manager 2014
Available now from Amazon

There are a lot of incredibly talented young players in Football Manager 2014, here’s a look at some of the best young strikers in the game though, young forward minded players can really add something to your squad, either straight from season one or at some point further down the line if they’re brought through properly. All players listed here are 21 or under at the start of the game.

Gabriel Barbosa

Football Manager has always been full of incredibly talented Brazilians, and Football Manager 2014 is no different with Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa standing out strongly as one of the series’ new heroes. Barbosa looks to be an incredibly promising player in real life, and at the start of Football Manager 2014 he’s yet to even turn 17 yet and still looks an incredibly promising young player. He’s very young so will have to be well nurtured to be brought through right and reach his full potential, if you’re able to get Gabriel Barbosa to reach anywhere near his full potential in the game though then you’ll certainly have a serious talent on your hands with this one.

Moussa Dembélé

Not to be confused with the Belgian Tottenham player of the same name who also previously played for Fulham, Fulham’s French forward Moussa Dembélé is definitely a player to take a good look at in Football Manager 2014. He’s extremely young and will take a good few years to fully develop, Moussa Dembélé is a striker with much potential though and a young player that’s well worth snapping up if you can persuade Fulham to part company with him. Fulham have had a serious goals shortage this season and Moussa Dembélé has been one of the players called up to the main squad to try and change that, so far he is yet to find the back of the net for Fulham in reality though but if you sign him for your side in Football Manager 2014 then you may just find that he ends up scoring a good number of goals for you.

John Guidetti

In the 2011–2012 season John Guidetti was lighting up the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, the 2012-2013 season was then a complete write off for the player though as he returned to Manchester City and was then not utilised. In reality the 2013-2014 season has again not been a great one for Guidetti and it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the player, in Football Manager it is certainly still possible to get Guidetti finding the form that made him such a force for Feyenoord though, and as he’s only 21 at the start of play there’s still hope that you can help him improve further as a player and make good use of him for a top level team. He’s not a guaranteed success story, he’s certainly worth taking a punt on though as a low cost, low risk signing that could potentially be a real diamond in the rough.

Angelo Henriquez

19 years old at the start of the game, Angelo Henriquez is a young Chilean talent that can definitely add something to your squad in Football Manager and develop to become a valued member of the first team. Henriquez is on loan at Real Zaragoza for the first season of the game, he’s definitely worth keeping tabs on though and if you’re managing Manchester United then this is definitely not a striker to be overlooked. Henriquez may not be your first choice forward to begin with, give him time though, develop him properly and you could well find that you have an incredibly hot property on your hands with this one.

Romelu Lukaku

It varies from game to game whether or not you can successfully prize Romelu Lukaku away from Chelsea, if you can do though then he is certainly an incredibly powerful young striker that is well worth investing in. Two years running Lukaku has performed exceptionally well in the English Premier League, first with West Brom and then with Everton; showcasing a fantastic goalscoring talent with a wonderful eye for goal and a great turn of pace that has been the cause of much defensive pain for many clubs in England the past couple of years. Lukaku seems unfancied for whatever reason at Chelsea, which seems strange given their lack of a real consistent goalscorer, nonetheless Chelsea’s loss can be your gain though and if you sign Romelu Lukaku in Football Manager 2014 then the young Belgian international will no doubt be banging in the goals for both club and country for many years to come.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Anderlecht is most definitely a club with a strong eye for spotting a young attacking talent, and having previously brought Romelu Lukaku through the ranks the club now has another very exciting young prospect on its hands in the form of Aleksandar Mitrovic. Mitrovic was brought to the club for a relatively low fee of €5 million, he’s already establishing himself as a Serbian international though and has taken well to the Jupiler Pro League with a good haul of goals in his first season in Belgium. Much like Romelu Lukaku, Mitrovic is a player that could before long find himself in the process of a big money move elsewhere, for now the teenage striker plays for Anderlecht though and a very good job he’s done there, too.

Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata will probably be sold by Real Madrid this summer in reality and is for most top level clubs a fairly realistic target in Football Manager 2014 as well. If you’re managing an elite club then Morata probably won’t be your first choice striker, he’s nonetheless well worth having around though and shouldn’t have too steep a price tag either. Morata’s wage demands probably won’t be that high and he’s unlikely to break the bank, so if you’re in need of a decent striker to add bulk and options to your squad then you can definitely do a lot worse than Alvaro Morata.

Neymar

Neymar has been a superstar of Football Manager for some years now and that’s definitely not something that has changed with Football Manager 2014 as he’s still an absolute beast on the left wing and also up top as a striker. He was a big money signing for Barcelona in the summer so unless you’re managing them then you may find it a bit hard to get your hands on him early on in the game, having seen Gareth Bale sold on to Manchester United for £24 million in one save just one season on from him becoming the most expensive footballer of all time anything is definitely possible in the game though and it’s therefore still worth keeping an eye on how he progresses at Barcelona. The chances of being able to sign Neymar are probably pretty slim unless your transfer budget is absolutely monstrous, every save in the game has its quirks though and if you keep an eye on Neymar in the game then you may just get lucky.

Jesé Rodríguez

Much like fellow Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, Jesé Rodríguez is likely to demand a fairly reasonable wage, unlike with Morata though Real Madrid will require a considerafble amount of money to be persuaded to let him go. Jesé is a speedy striker that plays with a good amount of flair; he has strong dribbling ability, excellent technique, and could potentially bring a lot to your team in Football Manager 2014. He has poor strength and there’s no denying that there are certain weaknesses in his game, if you sign him the good stats are likely to outweigh the bad or you though and you’re probably going to be fairly content with the contributions that Jesé makes to your team.

Timo Werner

Stuttgart’s Timo Werner is an absolute monster of a player in Football Manager 2014, a speedy striker that can certainly add a huge amount to your team and help turn your club into a real world footballing power. There are so many fantastic young players in Germany right now and Timo Werner is most definitely one of them. Werner has started coming through the ranks at Stuttgart this season, become an Under-19 international, and it’s surely only a matter of time now before he steps it up a gear and showcases his fantastic talent on an even greater stage.

James Wilson

He may only be 17 years old when you first fire up FM 2014 and you may not have heard of him until quite recently, James Wilson is a quite brilliant player in the game though and another Manchester United academy prospect that seemingly will have a bright future ahead of him in football. Having achieved a decent degree of success with this striker even in season one, Wilson is a player to look after within the game, a striker well worth snapping up if you can and one that’s definitely worth utilising when managing Manchester United. You might want to send him out on loan in order to get the very best out of Wilson, even if you keep hold of him at a top level club he can still do a job when called upon though and if he’s not already a player on your radar then you should certainly seek to scout this player and you’ll probably then begin to appreciate that this really is a player worth getting excited about.

Richairo Zivkovic

Whenever starting any new game of Football Manager 2014, my first port of call is always FC Groningen’s Richairo Zivkovic. He’s cheap and incredible of fantastic greatness, and if ever I miss out on the player I always feel as though I’ve missed a trick. It doesn’t really matter what sort of team you’re managing, most reasonably sized clubs will have a budget big enough for Richairo Zivkovic, and if you give him a few loan moves to help gain him match practise then Richairo Zivkovic should develop strongly and provide you with an absolute superstar by the time he enters his twenties. Zivkovic is without doubt one of Football Manager 2014’s biggest bargains and if you don’t already look to sign this young striker every save then you should certainly look to start doing so as soon as possible.

Joey Sturgis Releases Gain Reduction Vocal Plugin

February 25, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

Joey Sturgis Gain Reduction

Having worked with the likes of Born of Osiris, Attila, Emmure, Miss May I, Asking Alexandria, We Came As Romans, Blessthefall, and The Devil Wears Prada, Joey Sturgis has now put together a vocal plugin that places his signature vocal production sound in the hands of the masses.

Well known for creating an incredibly in-your-face vocal tone as a producer/mixer/engineer, Joey Sturgis has now put his experience and expertise working in heavy music to good use by putting out a plugin that provides ease of use that makes it perfect for those interested in home recording, whilst also being of a high enough quality to provide a very useful new plugin for veteran producers alike.

Joey Sturgis had the following to say about the plugin:

When I sat down to design this plugin, I wanted to create something simple and effective that not only serves as a work horse in the mixing environment but also provides a creative mixing experience for the mixing engineer. I also wanted to create a useful tool for musicians and vocalists who would like to spend more time on performance and less time on mixing. My aim was to create a vocal sound unmatched by similar plugins on the market while providing the “in-your-face” sound that you’d expect from one of my vocal mixes. I feel that I have not only achieved these goals but also opened the door way to a new world of vocal dynamics that many may be afraid to explore. Fear no more, let your vocals stand out! Let your voice be heard!

The Gain Reduction vocal compressor is available now for $35 from Joey Sturgis’ webstore, and as a special bonus anyone that spends $25 or more on the website during the month of February will be in with a chance of winning a custom seven string guitar from Fujigen.

The following video will give you a little more insight into how and why the plugin was created:

Top 10 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2014

January 23, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

2014 looks like it’s going to be a big year for video gaming and it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the PS4 and Xbox One develop in their first full year on the market. The PS3 and Xbox 360 still have a few top titles set for release in 2014 and there are a lot of games due for release that will be available on last gen as well as the new wave of video games consoles, there are also some fantastic looking PS4/Xbox one exclusives set to drop in 2014 though, and if you’re a big fan of video games then there’ll definitely be plenty due for release this year that you’ll very much be looking forward to playing.

There may be a lot of top titles due for release in 2014, here’s a look at some of the most anticipated titles due to drop this year though, and regardless of your gaming platform of choice there’s bound to be something in this list that piques your interest and gets you excited about the year or gaming that we have ahead of us.

Dark Souls II (PC / Xbox 360 / PS3)

Dark Souls II

Whilst many people still await a major price drop before taking the plunge on an Xbox One or a PS4, Dark Souls II is due for release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC later this year, giving even those that have already succumbed to the temptation of the new consoles a fantastic reason not to tidy away their last gen hardware just yet.

A sequel to 2011s critically acclaimed Dark Souls, fans of the original title will no doubt be incredibly excited to get their hands on the new game, and big sales can be expected for this new Namco game when it receives its worldwide release in March.

DriveClub (PS4)

DriveClub

Having originally been intended for release at launch, DriveClub is one of several delayed titles that made the next gen launch so underwhelming. PS Plus subscribers were meant to receive this game at launch as a part of their subscription (and still will when the game is released later this year), the game was ultimately delayed though, and it’ll now be a delayed response before we discover how the game compare’s to the Xbox One’s Forza Motorsport 5.

Even for PS4 owners that aren’t necessarily huge fans of racing games, DriveClub will no doubt still be a game that’s eagerly anticipated for all those with a PS Plus subscription, a game that could win around its fair share of racing game doubters and end up being a very enjoyable title for a lot of people that never expected it to be.

Dying Light (PC / PS3 / PS4 / Xbox 360 / Xbox One)

Dying Light

If zombie films are your thing and you love The Walking Dead TV series/comic, Dying Light will probably be a pretty big video game release for you in 2014. Dead Rising 3 was available at the launch of the Xbox One, not everyone owns an Xbox One just yet though and Dying Light is a far more inclusive title which is going to be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the PS4 and Xbox One, and will also receive a release on PC as well. Many people will have been disappointed that Dead Rising 3 was an Xbox One exclusive, Dying Light should help you forget about the pain of not being able to play that one though, and this game should surely provide a good amount of shocks and scares for many.

Dying Light will probably not drop for a good while yet so there’s going to be quite a wait on this one, it is due for release at some point in 2014 though and there will definitely be many waiting with bated breath for news of exactly when this fantastic looking survival horror game is officially due for release.

Infamous: Second Son (PS4)

Infamous Second Son

Probably the most exciting PS4 exclusive of 2014, Infamous: Second Son is an upcoming open world adventure game that really does look absolutely incredible. If super powers are your thing and you’ve enjoyed previous games in the series, Infamous: Second Son is no doubt a video game that you’ll very much be looking forward to playing.

Infamous: Second Son is the third game in the Infamous video game series so far, a first chance to try the series out on the PS4 and find out the extra boost that the new console provides over the games that were released for the PS3. If previous games in the series are anything to go by then Infamous: Second Son will definitely be a game well worth playing, a title that PS4 early adapters will surely be wanting to test out at the earliest possible opportunity.

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

Mario Kart 8

With every Nintendo console since the SNES, Mario Kart has been a massive unit shifter and Mario Kart 8 will no doubt be no different. It is no secret that sales for Nintendo’s Wii U console haven’t been the best, all those that own the console would no doubt agree that it already has a stellar selection of titles, however, and Mario Kart 8 will provide another absolutely cracking reason to invest in a Wii U.

There are few games out there as fun for multiplayer as the Wii U; it’s just one of those games that absolutely demands to be played with friends, and Mario Kart 8 very much looks as though it’s going to be another incredibly impressive title in the series.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes (PS3 / PS4 / Xbox 360 / Xbox One)

Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes

Although it’s only a prequel, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is a game that has the MGS tag attached to it and is therefore a title that’s hugely hotly anticipated.

It’s a taster more than it is a full title, with a reduced price tag there are bound to be many MGS addicts that invest in this one though, and the game will no doubt sell well regardless of how much actual gameplay is offered here. The game is said to provide a large change of direction for the series, so it’ll be interesting to discover all that is new here and how the game compares to previous titles in the MGS franchise.

South Park: The Stick of Truth (PC / PS3 / Xbox 360)

South Park The Stick of Truth

Even for those that may not watch the show quite so religiously as they once did or who may not have already acquainted themselves with the series (you’re missing out), South Park: The Stick of Truth is an upcoming role-playing game that looks to be absolutely jam packed full of potential.

Another of the titles in this list previously planned for release but ultimately delayed, South Park: The Stick of Truth can potentially be a great game, and given that they’ve taken extra time to make sure they get it right, all being well it will be well worth the extra wait and in 2014 we will once again be treated to another classic South Park video game title. The game is bound to come with its fair share of humour, and if you’re a fan of both RPG games and South Park then this may well be a game of the year in the waiting.

Super Smash Bros. (3DS / Wii U)

Super Smash Bros Wii U

Super Smash Bros. was a huge hit when it first released on the N64, was the highest selling video game on the Gamecube, and also enjoyed a good deal of success on the Wii. Along with Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. will definitely help sell a few more Wii U systems when it’s released later this year, and for all those still not willing to part with their hard earned cash for the console, there is always the 3DS version of the game to consider.

Both the 3DS and Wii U Super Smash Bros. games will feature the same set of playable characters, the Wii U version of the game will no doubt be a fascinating spectacle to experience, however, and it’ll be interesting to discover how well they utilise the Wii U GamePad in order to get the best possible experience out of the console release. Disappointingly there will be no cross-platform play between the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, it’ll still be interesting to discover how the game plays out on the 3DS though, and the prospect of an HD Super Smash Bros. experience for the Wii U is definitely a very exciting one.

Titanfall (PC / Xbox 360 / Xbox One)

Titanfall

For all those that have already invested in an Xbox One, Titanfall will probably be one of the must own titles of 2014. Titanfall is sure to do a great job of demonstrating what the Xbox One is capable of in 2014, for all those that are yet to upgrade to the Xbox One, however, you’ll be pleased to hear that the game will also be available for both Xbox 360 and PC.

Due for release in March, Titanfall is a very interesting looking first-person shooter title that should provide for many happy hours of impressive multiplayer gameplay. EA has already dominated the next gen market since the consoles were released at the end of 2013, and Titanfall is another title that should ensure that EA enjoys a large level of next gen success stretching into 2014.

Watch Dogs (PC / PS3 / PS4 / Wii U / Xbox 360 / Xbox One)

Watch Dogs

Another game that was originally due for release at the launch of the PS4/Xbox One but ultimately delayed, Watch Dogs will still be hotly anticipated in 2014, even if they did make us wait an extra 6 months for it.

An impressive looking open world title, if they get Watch Dogs right then this game could potentially be absolutely huge. There’s certainly a lot of hype that surrounds the title and it looks to be a very impressive video game, time will only tell though as to whether or not the game lives up to the hype and expectation that surrounds it (fingers crossed that it does as Watch Dogs has the potential to be one of the most impressive titles of 2014).

What games are you most looking forward to in 2014? Leave your thoughts below.

FUT 14 Player Profile: Jakub Blaszczykowski

January 16, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

With fantastic sprint speed and acceleration combined with great dribbling, ball control, and crossing, Jakub Blaszczykowski is an incredibly impressive winger that’d be a brilliant addition to any FUT Bundesliga build.

Playing Blaszczykowski out wide you can use his pace to get away from defenders easily, and once you’ve done this you can then cut inside to torment the opposition defenders further, or stay out wide and utilise the player’s impressive crossing ability. With these two strong options available to you, playing with Jakub Blaszczykowski can make things difficult for the opposition as they’re constantly trying to second guess you and work out if you’ll stick to the wing or move him into the box in order to unleash a thunderous power shot.

Jakub Blaszczykowski is an incredibly powerful player to have at your disposal in a Bundesliga FUT squad; with him on the right wing you’ve always got a good chance of scoring goals, and if you stick someone like Mario Mandzuckic in the box then this can be an incredibly potent formula as you ping balls into the box with Blaszczykowski and utilise Mandzuckic’s incredible heading ability to take full advantage. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would also be an excellent player to have upfront with Blaszczykowski on the wing; Aubameyang might not have the same heading ability as a player like Mandzuckic, he does still perform very well with his headers though and is also incredibly fast so you therefore don’t have to worry about whether or not your forward is going to be able to keep up with the extreme pace of your wide man.

Jakub Blaszczykowski is an excellent right midfielder to sign that won’t break the bank but will provide you with a very strong outlet down the wing.

FUT 14 Player Profile: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

January 7, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

With 96 acceleration, 95 sprint speed, and 82 finishing, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is an incredibly speedy player to pick up in FIFA Ultimate Team 14 that is also extremely capable when it comes to taking chances. He’s set as a striker as standard in FUT and performs this role extremely well, using a position modifier to change his position to the wing could definitely prove a powerful move as well though and is definitely something to consider if you’re short on wide players but feel fairly settled with your front line.

Whilst speed is not as big a factor in FIFA 14 as it was in FIFA 13 and strength can now go a long way, Aubameyang also has a 71 rating for strength which makes him an incredibly useful player to have upfront. He can definitely hold his own in the strength department, has 81 for positioning and 82 for reactions; he performs well in all key areas and is therefore a far better player than his overall 80 rating would have you believe.

Having played with numerous different strikers in FIFA 14, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has definitely become one of my very favourites. Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzuckic is one of my very favourite Bundesliga strikers in FIFA 14 and easily beats Aubameyang in several key areas such as strength, heading accuracy, and penalty taking, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s extreme speed though he can be an incredibly tricky player to play against and should certainly be held under strong consideration.

If he just had speed without much ability to back it up then Aubameyang wouldn’t be much of a FUT 14 acquisition whatsoever, he was snapped up by Borussia Dortmund in the summer for a reason though and if you sign him in FIFA Ultimate Team then you definitely won’t regret it.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a must have player for any FUT 14 Bundesliga build.

Potential Football Manager 2014 Wonderkids

September 21, 2013 by Rich 1 Comment

Football Manager 2014
Available now from Amazon

With Football Manager 2014 now having been released, it’s time to start thinking about what players to scout within the game and what wonderkids you want to sign up.

If you played a lot of Football Manager 2013 you should have some pretty good ideas by now of what are the best players to target within the game; some players are likely to be less highly rated in Football Manager 2014, and some players will have had their potential improved, based on previous releases of the game and real-life progress, however, these are some of the players that we feel are definitely worth taking a look at in Football Manager 2014.

GOALKEEPERS

Alphonse Areola

Currently out on loan from PSG at RC Lens, Areola has had to drop down a level in order to find himself some regular first team football, he’s still only 20 years old, however, and could well be highly rated again in the latest edition of Football Manager. He’s already made a couple of appearances for PSG prior to making his loan move, and could potentially be an absolute bargain to sign in Football Manager 2014.

Jack Butland

After being signed by Stoke City in January and immediately loaned back to Birmingham City for the remainder of the 2012-13 season, Jack Butland is a fantastic prospect of a goalkeeper that many view as a long-term successor to Joe Hart in the English national team. Stoke don’t seem to see the youngster as a first-choice goalkeeper at present, capped at all levels including full international for England, however, Butland is a goalkeeper that should be extremely highly rated in Football Manager 2014, and loaning the young goalkeeper from Stoke City with a view to snapping him up on a permanent deal could be a very good plan if you’re looking to create a young team with a goalkeeper that could potentially remain at the heart of your side for a good 15+ seasons.

Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois is currently in his third season out on loan to Atlético Madrid from Chelsea, and has built up quite a reputation for himself with a couple of solid seasons out in Spain. Through his strong displays in La Liga, Courtois has earned himself a place in the Belgian national team, bedding himself in as a core part of what’s becoming a very strong international side with plenty of promise for the future. Thibaut Courtois is certainly a goalkeeper to scout in Football Manager 2014, another goalkeeper that could potentially become your first choice goalkeeper for many seasons, and a goalkeeper that is sure to come with an extremely high star rating in the latest edition of Sports Interactive’s highly impressive football management sim.

DEFENDERS

Nathaniel Chalobah

After shining strongly out on loan at Watford last season, narrowly missing out on promotion with the club, Nathaniel Chalobah is a powerful young defender come midfielder that should once again develop to become an absolute superstar in Football Manager 2014. He’s been excellent within the game for a few years now,and with a season in reality to match his in-game promise, this is a young player that should be an extremely astute signing in Football Manager 2014.

Eric Dier

A player that is equally adept in defence and midfield, Eric Dier is a young English prospect that some English fans may not actually be aware of due to his playing his trade for Sporting out in Portugal. Dier has featured at youth level for England, he has lived in Portugual since 2004, however, and the teenager is therefore also eligible for the Portuguese national team. Having progressed through the ranks into the Under-21s, Dier is a player that should certainly be scouted in Football Manager 2014; he has a growing reputation out in Portugal and if you scout him within the game then you may just find yourself unearthing an absolute gem.

Michael Keane

Michael Keane has been an impressive young player in the game for a while now, and in Football Manager 2014 he most definitely has real potential to be an absolute wonderkid. Having had Michael Keane in my team in previous games in the series, Keane has developed to become a full international and has always been a very reliable player to have at the back. Michael Keane will no doubt have an incredibly low price tag in Football Manager 2014 for the return that you can get from the player, so invest in Michael Keane and you should well find yourself with a consistent performer and full England international for many seasons to come.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos

Papadopoulos has been an absolutely sublime player to sign in Football Manager for some time now; an established Greek international who has shown a superb defensive talent whilst playing out in Germany for Schalke in the Bundesliga. Papadopoulos was subject to huge transfer speculation in the summer, linking the young defender with a move away from the Bundesliga, ultimately the player has remained in Germany, however, and as a result of the speculation that surrounded him this summer, he could be unsettled in Germany and therefore a great player to target in Football Manager 2014.

Jack Robinson

Having been loaned out to Wolves in the second half of last season, Liverpool’s Jack Robinson has once again found himself to not figure in Brendan Rodgers’ first team plans as he’s been loaned out to Blackpool for the season. With Blackpool making a strong start to the season which has seen then put into promotion contention at this early stage of the season, Jack Robinson has been a key part of this, playing an important defensive role for the club at left-back. Although he’s not currently playing his trade in the top flight of English football, Blackpool’s early season form certainly suggests that he could help take Blackpool to the top, and Robinson should once again be a very solid full-back to sign in Football Manager 2014, having already been an excellent signing within the game for some years now even though he’s only just turned 20.

Andre Wisdom

After breaking into the Liverpool team last season, Andre Wisdom is a defender that will likely become a big part of Liverpool Football Club over the next few seasons; a young English Under-21 international that will no doubt break into the full international setup before long if he continues to show such great ability at club level for Liverpool. Wisdom is a young full back with a developing track record in reality, and in Football Manager 2014 this will no doubt be reflected and he should be a very solid player within the game.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS

Adryan

When Football Manager 2013 was first released, Adryan was one of the biggest bargains in the game as he had a release clause in his contract that meant you could sign him up for £875,000. Whilst this release clause was ultimately removed in a subsequent patch update, Adryan remained one of the best Brazilian prospects in the game; an attacking midfielder with a huge amount of talent, and a player that really was well worth signing up if possible. Having progressed well through the ranks at Flamengo, Adryan should once again be a very exciting player in Football Manager 2014, and whilst he may no longer be an option even when managing a club without much money, he’s certainly a player well worth scouting within the game and casting an eye over his in-game progress is a definite must.

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2013-14 Premier League season, and having already been extremely highly rated in Football Manager games of the past, Barkley is sure to be even more of a prospect in Football Manager 2014, an extremely high quality midfielder to purchase. He’s unlikely to come cheap, but if you pay a premium for this young midfielder then he’s probably going to be worth it.

Ryan Gauld

Dundee United’s young sensation Ryan Gauld is a fantastic player to sign up in Football Manager 2014. He can play incredibly well either out left or through the middle and is therefore a versatile player that can go a long way in helping you achieve success in Football Manager 2014. Gauld is available relatively cheaply for his quality and at only 17 years old at the start of the game he certainly has a huge amount of potential to go on and get better. Dundee United have an exceptional talent pool right now with the likes of John Souttar, Andrew Robertson and Stuart Armstrong all on their books, and if you’re looking for an attacking midfielder that can also absolutely dominate out wide then you can definitely do a lot worse than snapping up Ryan Gauld.

Will Hughes

A huge talent in Football Manager 2013, Will Hughes is another player that will almost definitely enhance your midfield in Football Manager 2014. He might only be 18, but last season he certainly showed that he’s able to cut it with the best of them in the Championship, and after a strong start to the 2013-14 season which has seen the player linked with a number of Premier League clubs, it’s surely only a matter of time before Will Hughes makes the step up in real life, and you should certainly see signing him up in Football Manager 2014 as an absolute priority.

Mateo Kovacic

Croatian wonderkid Mateo Kovacic is a definite player to take a good look at in Football Manager 2014. With Kovacic having only just recently signed for Inter Milan in January 2013, it’s possible that you’ll have to wait a while before you’re able to sign the player, if you’re patient though and keep a keen eye on him then you may just find that this is a fantastic central midfielder to invest in a few seasons down the line. Kovacic is an impressive player in reality, and if you decide to sign him in Football Manager 2014 he is bound to be an incredibly impressive young talent that could do wonders for your in-game prospects of achieving future success.

Paul Pogba

Having controversially departed Old Trafford at the end of the 2011-12 season, disillusioned with his lack of first team appearances under Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, Paul Pogba is a player that has done extremely well since moving to Juventus a year ago, already picking up a Serie A winners medal in his first season in Italy, and also adding to his medal tally with two Italian Super Cup’s. The young player has become a French international in 2013 due to the strength of his performances in Italy, and with Manchester United having recently splashed out £27.5 million on Marouane Fellaini, Pogba is a player that United no doubt could have done with as they looked to strengthen an ageing central midfield. Pogba was a quality acquisition in Football Manager 2013, and after the season that he’s had out in Italy he should now be an even more exciting prospect in Football Manager 2014.

James Ward-Prowse

Having made a number of appearances for Southampton throughout the 2012–13 season, the 2013–14 campaign looks to be a big year for Ward-Prowse as the 18 year old continues to progress and develop as a player. One of several promising young Southampton players right now, Ward-Proswe is an exciting prospect in the centre of the park and a player that could well have a big career ahead of him in football. Ward-Prowse was a decent prospect in Football Manager 2013, and in Football Manager 2014 he should be even better as he continues to play more regularly for Southampton and establish himself as an Under-21 international.

WINGERS

Adnan Januzaj

Adnan Januzaj is an exciting young Belgian attacking midfielder/winger that may well be one of the new wonderkids of Football Manager 2014. In Football Manager 2013 he could be a decent signing, the young player really showed some great signs of quality in pre-season with Manchester United, however, and after a couple of decent appearances for the club in competitive action this season, this is a player that may well have improved hugely as a Football Manager prospect. The media attention that Januzaj has drawn in recent months, it’ll be extremely surprising if Adnan Januzaj is not a player with huge potential in Football Manager 2014.

Jesse Lingard

Much like Adnan Januzaj, Jesse Lingard is a player that showed a huge amount of promise in Manchester United’s pre-season tour and he’s therefore another young Manchester United prospect to take a look at in Football Mananger 2014. He may not ever develop into a world class international, chances are though that if you sign him then you’ll have yourself a very solid squad player to call upon when required.

Wellington Nem

Having secured a summer move to Shakhtar Donetsk, Wellington Nem is definitely a young Brazilian to watch out for in the future, a player that has already proven himself in Brazil and will now be looking to make a name for himself in Europe. Having only signed for Shakhtar for €8 million Euros in the summer, patience will definitely be a virtue if you look to sign Wellington Nem in Football Manager 2014, if he’s anything like he was in Football Manager 2013 though then he should be an absolute bargain if you can snap him up for a figure in the region of what Shakhtar paid for him.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Always full of running, Oxlade-Chamberlain is a player that always gives his all in reality, and a player that is also well worth checking out in Football Manager 2014. He’s a nippy winger with a huge amount of power in his play, a young player that would no doubt add to any top side and improve upon the strength and depth available.

Nathan Redmond

Having made the move from Birmingham to Norwich City in the summer, Nathan Redmond is a player that you probably won’t be able to sign right at the beginning of the game due to his only just having moved clubs, he’s certainly a strong rising talent, however, and his progress within the game is therefore well worth monitoring. Redmond hit the spotlight a few years back, looking extremely comfortable both domestically and in Europe, and having already hit the England Under-21 team as a teenager, Redmond is definitely a player that looks to have an incredibly promising career ahead of him in football.

Raheem Sterling

After a strong start to the 2012-13 season, Raheem Sterling was rewarded for his form with several call-ups to the England squad, and an ultimate international debut against Sweden in November 2012. Sterling lost his way a little as the season went on, the start of the 2013-14 season has already seen him play a number of times for Liverpool, however, and after the start to the season that he enjoyed last season, this is a player that is still plenty young enough to begin pushing his way through the ranks again, and could well be a quality winger to sign in Football Manager 2014.

Wilfried Zaha

Another young winger to have represented England at full international level, Wilfried Zaha helped Crystal Palace to an unexpected promotion via the play-offs last season, and was a key part of their promotion push as he scored two goals to put the club through in the play-off semi-final, and then went on to win a penalty in the play-off final which ultimately secured the club’s proud promotion to the English top flight. Now a Manchester United player, Zaha has a tough task ahead as he attempts to persuade new United boss David Moyes that he’s up to the job of playing regularly for a title chasing team like Manchester United, and should be a very solid winger to sign in Football Manager 2014.

STRIKERS

Ademilson

One of the many Brazilian superstars of Football Manager 2013, Ademilson is a player that is definitely well worth scouting again in Football Manager 2014. He didn’t score many at Sao Paulo last season, he’s still only 19 years old though and the likelihood is that he’ll still be a good player in Football Manager 2014, even if he’s not quite as good now as he was in last year’s edition.

Saido Berahino

Quickly coming through the ranks at West Brom, Saido Berahino is a player that is well worth looking into in Football Manager 2014, a fantastic forward that could definitely improve your strikeforce. He might not be an instant team changer, give him a few years though and Berahino is extremely likely to develop into one of your finest talents. In reality many see Berahino as a key part of the English national team’s future; he’s young and looks to be a natural goalscorer that knows exactly where the goal is. Scout and sign Berahino in Football Manager, give him a good amount of game time, and chances are that Berahino will play an important part in your club’s future success and should well earn himself some England caps in the process.

Adam Campbell

Having made a few Premier League appearances last season as well as appearing on a couple of occasions in Europe, Newcastle United’s young striker Adam Campbell is a player that’s definitely well worth taking a look at in Football Manager 2014. In Football Manager 2013 the striker developed well, and in Football Manager 2014 he should again be a low cost player well worth investing in to provide options upfront for the future. He’ll take a few seasons to develop, if you bring him through the ranks properly though then Campbell should once again be a real threat in the latest Football Manager.

Carlos Fierro

A promising young player from Mexico, Carlos Fierro is a player that has been absolutely excellent in the last couple of editions of Football Manager, and in Football Manager 2014 he should be an absolute goal machine again. In reality he won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011, and at youth international level has continued to impress as he’s progresses to the Mexican U-20 squad. In previous editions of the game, Fierro has been a slow burner and takes a few seasons to really reach his potential, stick with him though and you will surely have yourself a goalscorer to be very proud of.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku was a difficult player to get hold of in Football Manager 2013; on-loan at West Brom in season one, Lukaku would usually become a key member of the Chelsea squad upon his return, and unless you fancied shelling out tens of millions on him it was usually a lost cause looking to target Lukaku in Football Manager 2013. In Football Manager 2014 it could well be a different story, with the player once again having been shipped out on loan and perhaps then not viewed as quite so crucial to Chelsea Football Club’s future. Although the player might once again be difficult to get hold of, the young Belgian had an excellent year at West Brom last season and is likely to be once again very highly rated in Football Manager 2014.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

18 years old at the beginning of the game, Aleksandar Mitrovic is an incredibly impressive young prospect that if developed in the right way can turn into an absolute beast of a striker. Mitrovic has already been capped several times for the Serbian national team in reality and looks to be an absolute handful in the Belgian Pro League with Anderlecht right now, and although he’s unlikely to come cheap in the game he’s certainly extremely likely to be well worth the money.

Yaya Sanogo

An excellent Football Manager signing of the past, Yaya Sanogo is a player that could be resurrected as a real prospect in Football Manager 2014 after his summer move to Arsenal. He’s still only 20 years old, and had an incredibly impressive goals to games ratio for Auxerre last season which could once again se this young Frenchman become a real threat in Football Manager.

Richairo Zivkovic

He might only be 16 years old when you start playing the game, but FC Groningen’s Richairo Zivkovic is an absolutely sensational prospect of a player that you really don’t want to be missing out on. Given his age it’ll take a good few years before he’s ready to start smashing them in for your top level club, invest in this player early though and you should be able to reap the rewards for many seasons to come once he starts coming into his own. If you bring him through the right way then you may just find Richairo Zivkovic to be your best ever signing in Football Manager 2014.

Backtrack

Currently in the studio with producer Nick Jett (Terror), Backtrack is a fantastic up and coming NYHC band that has recently signed with Bridge Nine Records.

The album that Backtrack is currently working with Nick Jett on will become the band’s Bridge Nine debut, their first release since ‘Darker Half‘ which was released via Reaper Records in 2011.

Having first formed in 2007, Backtrack has gone on to tour with the likes of H20, Terror, Comeback Kid, Expire, Cold World, and Trapped Under Ice, and later this year the band will continue with their heavy touring ways as they hit the road with Stray From The Path, Gideon, No Bragging Rights, and Rescuer in a very busy October which will see them take in 19 venues throughout the US.

Backtrack is a band that has already accomplished a huge amount, and 2014 should be another absolutely massive year for them as they release their Bridge Nine debut and continue to bring their music to the masses.

Below you can take a listen to Backtrack’s ‘The Worst Of Both Worlds‘, taken from the band’s ‘Darker Half‘ studio album.
