Attack! Attack! – Blood On My Hands

March 10, 2011 by Rich Leave a Comment

‘Blood On My Hands‘ is the latest single from Welsh rock band Attack! Attack!; it’s an anthemic rock song, and you can most definitely imagine this track being played as the band packs out a sold out arena. Having only formed in 2006, the last five years have seen the band grow and expand greatly, and ‘Blood On My Hands‘ is a fine example of the strength that this band has now come to occupy.

‘Blood On My Hands‘ is most certainly a track that stood out to me massively when I first listened to the band’s ‘The Latest Fashion‘ album back in September; it’s one of the gentler numbers from the album, certainly one of the most memorable however, and when you listen to ‘The Latest Fashion‘ you can’t help but feel that this track stands out.

Extremely well structured, ‘Blood On My Hands‘ makes a massive impression right from the start, with the strong vocal style and quality guitar work here really making the track stand out. The drumming is also extremely powerful here, and as you listen to this track it is made extremely clear that Attack! Attack! is a band with a great amount of instrumental talent and flair.

Attack! Attack! is a band that can at times pack an extremely powerful punch, with ‘Blood On My Hands‘ they show off their lighter side though, showing themselves to be a band with a diverse range, capable of pulling off a variety of different styles and tempos.

Give ‘Blood On My Hands‘ a listen and you will hear a quality UK rock band with a great deal of confidence in its ability.

Cut Copy @ HMV Forum, Sunday 6th March 2011

March 9, 2011 by Rich 1 Comment

In an impressive set that consisted of twelve tracks, Cut Copy did a grand job of pleasing the London crowd, performing a variety of tracks from their three studio albums to date. Holy Ghost! were the sole support act of the night, it was clear that the mass majority were here to see Cut Copy however, and it wasn’t until the Australian synthpop band took to the stage that this gig really started to get serious.

Opening with ‘Nobody Lost, Nobody Found‘ from the ‘In Ghost Colours‘ album, Cut Copy were instantly able to get into their stride as they crunched through a number of classy numbers. Mainly the band alternated between material from ‘In Ghost Colours‘ and ‘Zonoscope‘, ‘Saturdays‘ from ‘Bright Like Neon Love‘ was also played however, showing that the band has not yet completely forgotten its debut.

It was the ‘In Ghost Colours‘ material that seemed to go down particularly well with the audience; the biggest excitement of the night came as the band launched into ‘Lights & Music‘, and ‘Hearts On Fire‘ was also greeted with great applause as the HMV Forum crowd showed its appreciation for the band’s superb second album.

Whilst the music itself was extremely impressive, the light show that went with it was perhaps a little over the top at times, and although the lights were at first pleasing on the eye, less perhaps would have been more here.

Cut Copy is most certainly a band that knows how to put on a quality live show, and if you ever get a chance to see this fine Australian band then I’d definitely recommend doing so. Not only were the downstairs standing crowd moved by the music, but the majority of those in the seated section of the balcony also chose to stand as Cut Copy got the crowd dancing and made sure that this was a night to be remembered for all those that attended.

All Time Low – Time Bomb

March 3, 2011 by Rich Leave a Comment

‘Time Bomb‘ is the latest track from All Time Low, hailing from the band’s yet to be released ‘Dirty Work‘ studio album. Although the first officially revealed track from the band’s fourth studio album, interestingly enough it will not be the first released single from the album and is merely serving the purpose of bridging the gap between ‘Nothing Personal‘ and ‘Dirty Work‘.

‘Time Bomb‘ is a fun pop song from All Time Low; perhaps not the best track the band has ever written, a solid effort nonetheless however, and one that has got me excited about hearing what more the band will have to offer with ‘Dirty Work‘ as the chances are that there will be a number of better tracks on the album than this one. The vocal work of Alex Gaskarth is as impressive as always here, and it’s this more than anything that has me wanting to hear more from the album. The instrumental work is simple yet effective here, overall however with this track you just get the impression that this is All Time Low not quite at full gear, with the best being saved for later.

The fact that ‘Time Bomb‘ is not being released as the first single suggests that the band themselves feel that other tracks from the album have more to offer than this one, so if you listen to this one and like it then the chances are that you’ll be even more impressed when you hear the album.

I’m probably at times here sounding more bleak about ‘Time Bomb‘ than I mean to; I’ve already listened to ‘Time Bomb‘ quite a number of times and do like what I hear, All Time Low is an extremely talented pop punk band however and I just can’t believe that this will be as good as it gets with ‘Dirty Work‘. It’s a testament of the band’s talent that I’m expecting more from the album; All Time Low is a band that has impressed me massively in the past, and I’ve no reason to believe that the same won’t be true again of ‘Dirty Work‘.

An official release date for ‘Dirty Work‘ is yet to be announced, take a trip to the All Time Low Facebook page however and you’ll be able to give ‘Time Bomb‘ a listen and see what you think of this latest work from Baltimore’s favourite pop punk band.

All Time Low Kick Off Tour In Dublin

March 2, 2011 by Rich Leave a Comment

Video by aislingkatemeade

All Time Low kicked off their tour in style last night as they performed a sold out show at Dublin’s Olympia with support from Yellowcard and Young Guns.

The band will now travel over to the UK for a show at Nottingham’s Rock City tomorrow evening, and will perform 10 shows across the UK over the course of an 11 day period.

The predominantly sold out tour will finish with two nights at Brixton Academy, the second date having been added as a result of the first show selling out. Tickets are still available for the Sunday 13th March show at Brixton Academy.

Yellowcard went on hiatus for a few years back in 2008, with a new album due for release later this month the band is most definitely back in action now however, and supporting All Time Low on this tour they will no doubt show why their fans missed them so much when they were away, and undoubtedly make a few new ones along the way as well.

It has been announced today that the Scissor Sisters will be headlining Lovebox Festival on Sunday 17th July.

Scissor Sisters’ lead singer Ana Matronic had the following to say on the news that the band will be headlining the festival:

It’s appropriately named, this Lovebox festival, seeing as how I love every single name on this lineup. Booty-shaking, hands-in-the-air, smiles-on-faces fun will be had, friends. You want legends? Marc Almond and Blondie are here. You wanna move til your legs fall off? Horsemeat Disco and 2 Many DJs are in. Need a Nouveau-Disco Diva in your face? Give it to us, Ms. Kelis and Ms. Robyn. And to think that we Scissters get to be the whipped cream and cherry on top of your Sunday…WOW. This, people, is going to be hot. I can’t wait.
