Death In Texas – Oil & The Water

April 10, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Death In Texas – Oil & The Water

Right from the haunting piano and impressive drum sound in the opening, you know that ‘Oil & The Water‘ is going to be something rather special. You can feel the track building right from the word go, and as the vocals kick in here the track certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Whilst Death In Texas may be a band without a guitarist to speak of, what we do have here is an instrumental section of keys, bass, and drums that fits absolutely perfectly with the vocal work of Ruth Power. Ruth actually also happens to be the band’s pianist; clearly an astute instrumentalist as well as a very impressive vocalist. Instrumentally the band’s music is understated yet absolutely perfectly presented, the main focus is on the vocals here, but nonetheless the instrumental work offered in the track is absolutely sublime at all times and the drumming in particular here really does suit the Death In Texas sound absolutely brilliantly. The bassist’s work is also impressively presented here, a lot of the time it’s easy to forget about the individual components of the music as the instrumental elements of the band’s sound all combine together so well, there are certainly times when the bass work really hits you however and you really begin to appreciate the talent that is on display here.

I mentioned before about the haunting nature of the keys at the start of the track, and Ruth’s vocal sound definitely compliments and works well with this. Ruth most certainly has a very powerful voice, it’s something that’s central to the track, and as ‘Oil & The Water‘ progresses a very impressive vocal range is demonstrated on her behalf. It’s very hard not to fall in love with this kind of a voice and I’m sure that there are many Death In Texas fans out there that hold her vocal ability in an incredibly high regard, and many further people out there that will hear her voice in the future and be absolutely blown away.

Death In Texas is currently signed to Last Meal Records, and I definitely feel that this progressive pop band from London has a very big future ahead. If ‘Oil & The Water‘ is anything to go by then this is most certainly a band with a huge amount to offer, and it’ll be interesting to see what 2013 has in store for the band as they continue to tour the country and look to release more music.

Warbeast Release ‘Blood Moon’ Video Ahead of Fate of Chaos Tour

April 10, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Above you will find the new video for the Warbeast track ‘Blood Moon‘, taken from the band’s ‘Destroy‘ studio album which is out now through Housecore Records. The video for ‘Blood Moon‘ is a horror film inspired offering, so for those that love their horror this is an absolute must see.

Warbeast guitarist Scott Shelby had the following to say about the video:

First, Director Mike Holderbeast came to our rehearsal space at Zativa Studios in Texas. There, we filmed the jamming parts of the video in front of black screens and green screens. Next came the werewolf part, which had me going to New Orleans to Mike’s place. I followed his directing tips in order to become and transform into the Beast with professional makeup artist and lots of blood. We filmed in the French quarters and step by step did the transformation— ripping flesh, growing teeth, and turning into the Beast which had been caged and taunted by two beautiful women. The beast eventually slaughters both of them in this classic horror film metal video!

‘Blood Moon’ is a special song to me because I wrote it years ago. Bringing it back to life with Warbeast is an honor and long overdue. Plus, Bruce put his horror movie lyrics to it, which are the icing on the cake. This is a great song and a dream come true for Bruce and I. Mike Holderbeast is a master at his art as you will see in this awesome video. Enjoy and slash and thrash!

Warbeast will be heading out on the Fate or Chaos Tour with GWAR and Wilson later in the month. The full list of dates for the Fate or Chaos Tour is as follows:

Bowling For Soup Announce Farewell UK Tour

April 9, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Bowling For Soup Farewell UK Tour

Whilst Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick insists that the band will not be breaking up, Bowling For Soup is about to embark upon its final UK tour this coming October, and you can find a full list of the dates that the band will be playing in the tour poster above.

As Reddick explains in a YouTube tour announcement (that you’ll find posted below), Bowling For Soup will not be able to make it to Ireland on this coming tour, so if you’re one of the band’s Irish fans then you’ll have to try and catch Bowling For Soup at one of their shows in the UK if you’re able to. Also, Bowling For Soup does not currently have a farewell tour of the US planned, so it’s pretty special that they’ve chosen to give us UK fans one last chance to see them live, and we can definitely thank Jaret, Chris, Erik, and Gary for being so kind as to see to one final UK tour before they say goodbye to touring and concentrate on their personal lives away from the band.

As well as having this farewell UK tour coming up in October, Bowling For Soup will also soon be entering the studio in order to record their twelfth studio album. You can back this process and sign up for all sorts of perks by heading over to their PledgeMusic page where you can then choose from an assortment of different options as to how you wish to back the band with album number twelve.

For $10 you can bag yourself a digital copy of the album as soon as it’s finished, or for $10,000 you can even have the band come and perform a show at your house on October 8th 2013 (go on, you know you want to!). There are plenty of other options to choose from in-between, and you can show your support for this fantastic American pop-punk band by making a pledge and reaping the rewards.

The following is the video that Jaret posted on YouTube with regards to the upcoming Bowling For Soup UK tour and the future plans for the band:
