Defeater unveils new track ‘No Shame’

July 2, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Defeater - Letters Home Pre-Order

Defeater will release new studio album ‘Letters Home‘ via Bridge Nine Records on July 16th, and the band has now unveiled a new track from the album in the form of ‘No Shame‘.

‘Letters Home‘ is Defeater’s third and heaviest/best work yet, a ten track album that’s heavy and haunting, whilst lyrically poignant and continuing the story of a working class family living in post-WWII America.

Defeater vocalist Derek Archambault had the following to say about the album:

Inspiration for this record came from a few places. Much like with Lost Ground, these stories are based around my two grandfathers’ service in WWII. Musically the record hearkens back to Travels and Lost Ground. EDSN was a bit of a departure for us, and I think we took some good chances on that record but ‘Letters Home’ brings it back to why we started this band in the first place five years ago.

‘No Shame‘ premiered on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show last night, and if you missed it then, you can now stream the track below.

Randy Blythe Signs North American Book Deal with Da Capo Press

July 2, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Lamb Of God Resolution

As Lamb of God prepares to play a number of European tour dates and festivals in August, Randy Blythe is pleased to announce that the rights to his currently untitled memoir, presently planned to hit stores in the spring of 2014, have been sold to executive editor Ben Schafer at Da Capo Press.

The memoir, which puts emphasis on the past year of his life, is a harrowing, heartbreaking, and redemptive story told in Blythe’s already well-recognised writing style. With no ghost-writers and no co-authors, this is Randy Blythe’s opportunity to detail the events that have taken place this past twelve months in his own words; Blythe’s arrest, incarceration, trial, and acquittal for manslaughter in the Czech Republic last year is something that has been heavily reported in the media, and now it’s time for Randy Blythe to have his say.

Blythe had the following to say about his new book and the motivations behind it:

While I’ve dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic. Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told, I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it.

You can keep up to date with the latest information about the book at the Da Capo Press website.

Help Bring the Bass-Inspired Video Game DubWars to the Masses

July 2, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

DUBWARS

Having already received huge praise for DubWars’ OUYA gameplay, the game’s developers are now seeking investment in order to complete an official full-length release of the game.

In a quest to make their ambition of creating a full-length version of the game a reality, the DubWars developers have started a Kickstarter campaign in order to raise the $30,000 that would be needed to make this project happen. Supporting this project you can bag yourself all sorts of perks, from digital copies of the game right through to executive producer status.

The game’s developers had the following to say about the project:

DubWars is a top-down, twin-stick shooter where your weapons auto-fire to a musical track. We don’t automate our levels, everything is custom built to the music to make sure it matches. We’ve made a lot of cool partnerships with major Dubstep and Electronica labels like Monstercat and FiXT, as well as a lot of smaller, independent artists. We’ve been featured at E3, and were one of the launch titles of the OUYA game console. We are looking to get this awesome experience onto Steam.

The DubWars project is an incredibly exciting one, a game that breathes fresh life into music based gaming with a dubstep track selection that is not just a soundtrack but instead an integral part of the gameplay experience.
