November 12, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Soccer Six 2013

Featuring the likes of Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, The Blackout, Rise Against, and Kids In Glass Houses, Soccer Six 2013 will be taking place this Friday, with all profits from the event going towards the Hearts and Goals charity set up by Fabrice Muamba.

Soccer Six 2013 will take place on Friday 15th November at the London Soccerdome located near North Greenwich tube station, with standard tickets for the event available at a price of £10 per ticket and VIP tickets also available for £20 each.

Full details about the event can be found at the official Soccer Six 2013 website.

The Blackout forced to postpone remaining ‘Final Party’ tour dates

October 27, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

The Blackout Final Party Tour

As a result of The Blackout’s Gavin Butler being taken ill at the Manchester Academy 2 last night, the band has been forced to pull out of the remaining dates on the ‘Final Party’ tour which had been due to finish up in Dublin on November 3rd.

A full explanation regarding the band’s decision to pull out of the rest of the tour can be found below:

Hey guys,

So some of you may already be aware of what’s happened with Gavin, others may not be. Long story short, at our show at Manchester Academy 2 last night (Oct 26th), Gavin suffered a recurrence of a neurological issue known as a hemiplegic migraine, which can affect motor skills, including speech and loss of sensation in certain limbs. As a result, he left the stage two songs from the end of the set.

Having consulted local medical advice, in addition to what Gavin was told in hospital when this issue had occurred earlier this year, it’s become clear that one of the key issues in helping Gav get better is rest.

Unfortunately, that has put us in a difficult position, and it’s with great regret that we have to announce we will not be performing any of the remaining dates on the “Final Party” tour at this time. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we have to put the well being of the members of the band above all else, and we cannot perform to the standards we think you guys deserve without Gavin.

We will be working on a solution to this in the coming days, and will let you know the moment we know when we’ll be able to play again.

We are truly sorry guys, but we hope you understand. Your words of kindness have been humbling and very much appreciated. We will see you soon.

The Blackout.

Gravity Rush Review

October 26, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Although originally intended for release on the Playstation 3, Gravity Rush is a game that feels every bit as though it was always destined to become a handheld title.

Taking control of a girl called Kat (who has a mysterious and magical black cat), the game takes you on a journey as you learn to harness a variety of magical powers for the good of the floating city of Hekseville. Kat’s actions are not taken entirely positively at the beginning of the game, as you explore and your powers grow, however, the people of Hekseville begin to take note of the work that you’re doing to piece the city back together again, and your reputation grows as your powers develop.

An extremely enjoyable pick-up-and-play title, Gravity Rush introduces new skills and powers as you progress, making the game more difficult as you go along and therefore keeping you gripped throughout. Whilst the graphics may not push the limits of the Playstation Vita’s capabilities, the game nonetheless has an extremely impressive aesthetic style that’s warm and easy on the eye. With bright and vibrant colours at the forefront of the game’s visual style, Gravity Rush is always a pleasure to look at as well as a delight to play, and whilst admiring some extremely stunning scenery you also get to play a handheld title that’s enjoyable, different, and comes with a good degree of challenge.

When learning new skills and putting Kat’s new powers into action, it really feels as though the game’s platform has been extremely well thought about; Gravity Rush always feels as though it’s designed to make the most of the Playstation Vita’s key features, utilising the touch screen as well as the system’s physical buttons to provide an extremely satisfying overall gaming experience. Sometimes you can play a game and feel as though the publisher wasn’t really thinking about the end user when the controls for the game were thought up, or when a game is released for multiple platforms it can sometimes feel as though the key features and functionalities of the system have been overlooked, with Gravity Rush being a PS Vita exclusive, however, this is a game where the controls always seem to come very naturally and the game therefore runs very smoothly both visually and also in terms of how it actually plays.

Utilising comic book panels in order to help tell the story of the game as you progress, Gravity Rush is a good mix of comic book cool and superb superhero gameplay, a great open world adventure game that has an impressive aesthetic style and a very intriguing key protagonist in Kat. The game has a light-hearted tone which fits well with its superhero style, and if you own a Playstation Vita then Gravity Rush really is a must have title. As you play the game you want to learn more about Kat and never want the game to end, she’s a fun character to play as and is definitely a key part of the game’s charm and success. When you’ve finished with the game you feel that you want to know far more, and as there’s a Gravity Rush sequel currently in development it’ll definitely be interesting to see where the next game takes things.

Gravity Rush offers something a little bit different and this is most definitely one of the key strengths of the title. It’s unique, it’s interesting, and from start to finish the game never once loses its charm. Depending on your gameplay style you’re probably looking at about 10-20 hours to complete the game, as it’s such a beautiful game to look at though, if you’re anything like me you’re going to want to take your time to really stop and admire the aesthetics of the production, so you’re probably looking at the upper end of this scale in all probability. It might not be the longest game in the world, but it IS the kind of game that you’re really going to want to see through to the end, so Gravity Rush should definitely provide you with your money’s worth and leave you with a huge smile on your face upon completion.

If you own a Playstation Vita but haven’t yet played Gravity Rush, now is the time to see about changing that as it’s a game that’ll sure not leave you feeling in the least bit disappointed.

Every Time I Die to support A Day To Remember

October 15, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Every Time I Die

A Day To Remember will be coming over to the UK in February, and it has now been announced that Every Time I Die will be joining them on the tour as special guests.

Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley had the following to say about the band’s future plans:

It’s been a while since anyone in the ETID camp has checked in with our millions upon millions of fans, so while I sit here waiting for my lunch to arrive I thought I’d let you all in on some cool things because everyone knows that sitting at a table with “close” “friends” is a perfect time to stare silently at your phone. We are about to go to Australia to headline some club shows. The where’s and when’s are on our website which you can look up for yourself, I’m not your mom. After that we end the Ex Lives tour cycle with a headline run around the US of A with Letlive and Code Orange Kids that promises to be full of the best shows we’ve played all year. That info is also on our website so look it up you lazy bums and get tickets before it sells out so you don’t have to ask us on the Internet to let you in, in exchange for beer. now, once that is finished we had planned to begin writing our next record but here is where the news report takes a wild twist…. In January we will be postponing the writing process to visit the UK and Europe one more time with our friends in A Day To Remember. We’ve never toured with them before anywhere in the world and we love playing shows across the pond, so these will be an entirely new breed of fierce animal. The dates will be available on our website shortly if they aren’t already, but you can also hit us up on Twitter and ask us questions that you could just as easily Google the answers to. We good? Can I make eye contact with my friends now? Thanks. See you soon.

A Day To Remember are currently in the middle of their ‘House Party Tour’ with All Time Low and Pierce The Veil, and the following is a full list of tour dates for their upcoming UK headline tour:

FEBRUARY 2014

8th CARDIFF MOTORPOINT ARENA
10th GLASGOW O2 ACADEMY
12th LONDON ALEXANDRA PALACE
14th BIRMINGHAM O2 ACADEMY – SOLD OUT

October 7, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Taylor Momsen

Currently working on a new studio album due for release in 2014, The Pretty Reckless have now signed a record deal to release their music via Cooking Vinyl throughout the world (excluding North America).

Lead singer Taylor Momsen had the following to say about the decision to sign with Cooking Vinyl:

It feels awesome to partner with a label that truly understands rock music and we are looking forward to a great run.

With regards to the new studio album, Momsen added the following:

This is not a new chapter in the life of the band; it’s a new book. The band has matured and our sound has evolved dramatically. The record took almost a year to make. It’s gratifying knowing it’s nearing completion. I’m very excited to get new music out for our fans very soon.

The band is currently on a month long tour of the US and should be making their way over to the UK at some point in 2014.
