It’s crazy to think we were Jake’s first release with Pure Noise. It was literally just us and Jake. Watching Jake build the label to what it is today is something we all have had a pleasure watching. We are very excited and very proud to be coming back home to the Pure Noise family.

The Bastard Sons stream ‘Roads’ EP in full

March 10, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

The Bastard Sons

York-based heavy rock’n’roll quintet The Bastard Sons release their new EP ‘Roads‘ today via Kaiju Records, and the release has now been made available for streaming in its entirety via the band’s SoundCloud page.

The EP was recorded in summer 2013 at Edge Recording Studios, Cheshire, and mastered by Ray Staff at Air Studios who has previously worked on albums by the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Muse.

The Bastard Sons’ frontman JJ Jackson had the following to say about the new EP:

Roads is basically in two parts. The opener ‘O Brothel Where Art Thou?’ is really a stand alone track, and the rest of the EP flows more like a concept album with a story. ‘Raise The Horse’ sets the scene and we start on a boat (the horse) going to war.The world jumps in and out of different time scales taking us to ‘Sobre La Muerte’ which is basically The Horseman of The Apocalypse, Death, in the spotlight of a psychiatrist explaining how he doesn’t want to do it anymore. ‘Seasons End’ is the men on the boat preparing to go to battle and talking about friends lost and experiences of previous wars. We then cut to Death’s story again in ‘IV’ which is basically Death deciding he needs to be part of the horsemen to keep the balance and that’s what he was made to do. That then leads us on to ‘Winter’ which is the men from the boat going to war!

‘Roads‘ is now available to purchase from The Bastard Sons’ Bandcamp page, and you can listen to the EP in its entirety below:

South Park: The Stick of Truth goes straight to the top of the UK Chart

March 10, 2014 by Rich Leave a Comment

South Park The Stick of Truth

In its first week of release, South Park: The Stick of Truth has gone straight in at the top for the UK all-format video game chart.

With the vast majority of sales coming on Xbox 360/PS3 for the title, this shows that there is still a very active interest in the UK in last gen titles, and demonstrates that it’s still possible for a video game to sell extremely well even when it’s not released on Xbox One/PS4.

Thief was previously at the top of the charts but has now dropped to second, whilst Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare has climbed a place as it moves up to third.
