Juice WRLD – Righteous Review

April 27, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

Just as Juice WRLD’s Legends lyrics ‘What’s the 27 Club? We ain’t making it past 21‘ feel extremely eerie and hit extremely hard since his untimely passing at the age of 21, the lyrical content of Righteous also makes for an extremely tough listen in this first posthumous single release.

Whilst it’s an emotional listen though and some of the lyrics genuinely hurt to hear with its telling tale of anxiety and self-medication; it’s a bittersweet experience and the track itself is genuinely exceptional. It’s dark, it’s dreamlike, it’s melancholic, and it’s also incredibly infectious.

Juice WRLD’s vocals cut through the sound superbly, sitting very sweetly atop of the tracks sombre trap instrumental. The production is excellent, musically this single has a huge amount to offer, and even though the artist is sadly now gone; it’s great to have his memory live on here through his music and to hear a posthumous single release of such high quality.

Despite his young age, Juice WRLD had a remarkable impact upon the music world, with his music reaching out and touching the hearts of many. Juice WRLD will forever be sorely missed, but we’ll always have his music.

If you haven’t yet heard the single, you can check out the official music video for Juice WRLD’s Righteous below, directed, shot, and edited by Steve Cannon.

How to play A Day To Remember’s ‘Mindreader’ on Guitar

April 27, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

A Day To Remember premiered the official video for their new song Mindreader on their YouTube channel recently, and if you’ve been wondering how to play it on guitar ever since then this tutorial from the band’s very own Kevin Skaff should come in incredibly handy.

It’s a pretty in-depth video explaining how to play both the lead and rhythm guitar parts, contains a slightly unexpected but definitely much appreciated reference to Underoath, and if you’re a big fan of the song/band then it’s certainly well worth checking out.

It’s Kevin Skaff’s first foray into the world of guitar tutorials, hopefully it won’t be his last though as we definitely think he’s done a cracking job of it and that it’d work extremely well as a regular feature.

You can check out Kevin Skaff’s Mindreader guitar tutorial below

Bowling For Soup Cover Social Distortion’s ‘When The Angels Sing’

April 25, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

Bowling For Soup have posted numerous covers on their YouTube channel in recent months, the latest of which is a cover of Social Distortion’s When The Angels Sing.

The cover has been mixed and produced by Linus of Hollywood, and the band’s frontman Jaret Reddick had the following to say about the decision to cover a Social Distortion song:

Social Distortion…What can you REALLY say about a band that pretty much sets itself apart from every other band and genre in the world. Little bit o’this..Little bit o’that…But tough as hell!! Mike Ness is the epitome of “cool,” and his songs sincerely never age…Nor does HE for that matter. Anytime you cover a song from musical royalty, you take a chance. But we took a stab at “When the Angels Sing,” and I think we did it justice

Hayley Williams Releases New EP ‘Petals for Armor II’

April 23, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

After releasing Petals for Armor I a few months back which consisted of an initial five tracks, Hayley Williams has now released Petals for Armor II, comprising of a further five tracks of new solo music.

The Paramore frontwoman had the following to say about the new EP:

PFA II is the perfect interlude between where Petals began and where it’s going…. Part III isn’t far behind.

I needed these songs to help me get to a place where I could name my shame, take inventory of emotional scars, true friends, awful coping mechanisms and discover what I desire for my life.

Williams’ Petals for Armor studio album is officially set for release on May 8th, with the three EP’s ultimately making up the full fifteen track album.

You can listen to Dead Horse, taken from Petals for Armor II, below:

Pete Wentz to Record a Solo Album?!

April 22, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

It’s a long way from happening just yet, but in an interview with NME.com; Pete Wentz has suggested that he’ll record a solo album if we’re locked down for another 6 months or more. Speaking specifically on the issue of potential solo material, Wentz had the following to say:

I have a space in my head that’s always been more of an album. I have a concept for it, I have a lot of time on my hands and I kinda want to do it. Are we going to be in our houses for another six months? If we are, there’s going to be an album.

Fall Out Boy should be set to embark upon the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer in a few months, with such worldwide uncertainty, however, it’s good to know that there’s a backup plan for the Fall Out Boy bassist if it doesn’t end up happening as planned this summer.

Pete Wentz recently linked up with Cheap Cuts for Check Your Phone, the video for which can be found below:

5 Seconds of Summer’s Official Wildflower Video is Supremely Psychedelic

April 20, 2020 by Rich Leave a Comment

The new video for 5 Seconds of Summer’s Wildflower is supremely psychedelic, fitting well with the tracks strong synth presence.

Complete with an incredibly catchy chorus, it’s a very impressive offering from the Australian band and will no doubt please pre-existing fans of the band as well as bringing in a whole new audience, too.

The band’s bassist, Callum Hood, had the following to say about it:

We wanted to make the chorus kind of a choose-your-own-adventure, where some words are left out and then accentuated by these big stabs of synth. It lets everyone come up with their own interpretation and fill in whatever they think those missing lyrics might be.
