Bowling For Soup Team Up With Hanson For “Where’s The Love” Cover

June 15, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

When you’re covering a top 10 single from the 90s, there’s really no greater seal of approval than getting the original artist involved in the proceedings, which is exactly what Bowling For Soup have done here with their cover of Hanson’s 1997 hit Where’s The Love.

Having previously covered the likes of Kanye West, Social Distortion, and The Eagles, Bowling For Soup are back with their pop-punk cover treatment once again here, and complete with a Scooby Doo inspired music video; there’s certainly plenty to enjoy about this one, both musically and visually.

All three of the Hanson brothers join them for this one, providing their own updated vocals alongside Bowling For Soup’s very own frontman Jaret Reddick.

You can check out the official video for Where’s The Love in all of its glory below:

Barenaked Ladies Receive the Marvel Comic Book Treatment in New Video

June 15, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

Barenaked Ladies New Disaster Marvel

Barenaked Ladies will release their brand new album Detour de Force on July 16th, and in the build-up to this they have now unveiled an animated music video for new single New Disaster, drawn by Marvel comics illustrator Enis Cisic and animated by Toni Huml.

Frontman Ed Robertson had the following to say about New Disaster:

It is about the distraction of modern politics coupled with the pressures of the 24-hour news cycle, which is so sensational, un-vetted and un-researched. It seemed like the Nostradamus predictions of new disaster were getting worse and worse, even after we recorded the song

You can check out the incredible animated video for New Disaster in all of its glory below:

10 Former Footballers Who Will Become FIFA Icons In The Future

May 4, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

Today we’re going to be taking a look at ten former players will surely become FIFA icons in the future. Many former greats have already attained icon status in FIFA, from Pelé and Diego Maradona through to Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham, but today we’ll specifically be looking at players yet to be recognised for their greatness.

With the first player on the list being the superb Spaniard, Iker Casillas.

After a long and successful career in Spain with Real Madrid; Casillas moved over to Portugal with Porto back in 2015 and even went on to win the Liga NOS title with them in 2018.

He won the World Cup with Spain in 2010, the Champions League multiple times throughout his career, and having officially retired around this time last year; there’s no doubt in my mind that the extremely talented and much decorated Spanish goalkeeper will at some point become an icon.

And quite how Cafu isn’t already an icon is genuinely baffling to me. With 142 caps to his name for Brazil; Cafu is the most capped Brazilian of all time, some distance ahead of Roberto Carlos.

He won the Champions League with AC Milan, the World Cup twice with Brazil, and that Brazilian team he was part of back in the 90s was just absolutely phenomenal. They were so good to watch, and Cafu himself was just incredible. He’s undoubtedly one of the greatest full backs of all time and really is an absolute legend of the game.

And John Terry is another extremely well decorated defender that seems all set to become a FIFA icon in the future.

He won a huge amount of silverware for Chelsea, picked up 78 caps for England, and was a captain for both club and country. He had fantastic leaderships qualities, definitely wasn’t afraid of a tackle, and had an incredible command and understanding of the beautiful game.

Ashley Cole and Petr Cech have already attained icon status, and John Terry surely needs to join them in the future.

Cambiasso meanwhile was hugely successful at club level with Real Madrid and more notably Inter, picked up 52 caps for Argentina, and even had a brief spell with Leicester City the year before they won the Premier League. He could have even been a part of that fairy-tale success in fact if he hadn’t turned down a contract extension and moved to the Greek Super League with Olympiakos… Where he did win two league titles with them to be fair.

Defensively sound, Cambiasso was also capable of chipping in with a few goals, and read the game extremely well as a commanding, hard working midfielder.

He was a key part of the dominant Inter team of the mid to late 2000s than won five consecutive Serie A titles between 2006 and 2010, and is another player that’s just absolutely iconic.

And then we’ve got Edgar Davids; a Champions League winner with Ajax that would later go on to play for the likes of Juventus, Spurs and Barcelona. He won league titles in both Italy and the Netherlands, went to the World Cup semi finals, and can now be found managing S.C. Olhanense in the third tier of Portuguese football.

Former Manchester City and Barcelona man Yaya Touré meanwhile is another extremely talented midfielder that very much deserves to attain icon status in FIFA.

His distribution was unreal, he was incredibly difficult to dispossess, and he was also more than capable of scoring his fair share of goals. He was an extremely well rounded and versatile player, won plenty of silverware throughout his career and at the peak of his powers was even named the African Footballer of the Year on four consecutive occasions between 2011 and 2014.

And one club man Francesco Totti also needs to receive an icon card in the future. The man spent 25 seasons with Roma, picking up 58 caps for Italy, and even securing World Cup glory in the process.

With Roma he won the Serie A once, the Coppa Italia twice, and he also lifted the Italian Super Cup with them on two separate occasions. He no doubt could have won even more had he gone elsewhere, but the man was incredibly loyal, stuck with his club through the good times and the bad, and gained a huge amount of love and respect in the process.

Wayne Rooney meanwhile only officially retired a few months back, but even if he’s not a newly added icon for FIFA 22 then I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t receive an icon card within the next few years.

He’s the most capped outfield player of all time for his country, the top scorer of all time for both Manchester United and England, and in 13 seasons with United he won pretty much everything that there is to win.

He was extremely hard working, scored some truly iconic goals, won trophies galore, and although he was definitely a little fiery at times; you certainly can’t say that he was ever lacking in passion. He fought hard every single week, and his dogged determination as a player will always be very fondly remembered.

David Villa is another player to have retired fairly recently, and much like Rooney; he’s also the top scorer of all time for his country, playing 98 times for Spain and scoring 59 times in the process.

With Spain he won both the Euros and the World Cup, and at club level he won pretty much every available trophy.

He was hugely successful with Valencia, enjoyed a very happy three seasons with Barcelona, and towards the end of his career had a successful stint in the MLS with New York City before finally hanging up his boots in the J league (where he once again teamed up with his former Barcelona teammate Andrés Iniesta).

Another great goalscorer well worthy of inclusion in this list is Gabriel Batistuta. He’s Argentina’s second top scorer of all time (behind only Lionel Messi), had a ridiculous record of 0.7 goals per game with 54 in 77, and his club career saw him spend some very happy years in Italy, achieving domestic glory with both Roma and Fiorentina.

He was incredibly prolific, capable of providing an insane amount of shot power, and whenever he was on the pitch he was always an absolute problem both in and around the box.

Batistuta very rightly has a place in the Italian hall of fame, and he also absolutely deserves icon status in FIFA.

What do you think of our list of future FIFA icons, and if you could choose any player (past or present) to be added as an icon in the future; who would you pick?

Tiger Woods is Coming Back to Golf Video Games With PGA Tour 2K

March 17, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

Having previously been the face of the EA Sports PGA Tour series between 1998 and 2013, Tiger Woods is officially now returning to golf video games after signing a long-term exclusive deal with 2K.

2K also announced at the same time that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the privately held HB Studios Multimedia Ltd. (the developers of PGA Tour 2K21 and The Golf Club franchise), and moving forward Tiger Woods will now have his name and likeness exclusively appearing in the PGA Tour 2K series.

According to a statement released by 2K:

Woods’ partnership with 2K includes rights for his name and likeness to appear exclusively in the PGA TOUR 2K franchise, as well as any other golf games published by 2K during the partnership term. Woods will play an active role in the video game landscape as an Executive Director and consultant with PGA TOUR 2K, while 2K will also partner with Woods’ TGR Foundation, which provides award-winning STEM curricula and college-access programs to offer underserved students the tools needed to thrive in school and beyond.

With close to two million units of PGA Tour 2K21 being sold to date, it’ll now be very interesting to see the impact of the new Tiger Woods 2K partnership moving forward, and whether or not future games will be much more successful now that they have the Tiger Woods seal of approval.

Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfing superstar of all time, and the signing of him to an exclusive deal is an absolutely colossal move from 2K and a huge signal of intent for their future plans with the PGA Tour 2K series.

Outriders To Launch With Xbox Game Pass On Day One

March 16, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

When Outriders is released next month, there’s some fantastic news for console gamers as it will become immediately available on Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately there is bad news for PC gamers, however, as you will still need to buy the game on Steam or the Epic Game Store if you want to play the game on PC.

If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber on console though, even if you pre-ordered the game via the Xbox store; your order won’t be automatically cancelled and you will need to manually cancel your pre-order/pre-purchase in order to avoid paying for a game that you’ll already have access to as soon as it’s released.

So make sure you get those pre-orders cancelled if you haven’t already done so, and if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber on console? We’ll see you online on April 1st!

Last Chance U: Basketball – Where Are They Now?

March 16, 2021 by Rich 0 Comments

The 2019-2020 season didn’t quite end as anyone would have hoped, but what have the former members of the East Los Angeles College (ELAC) men’s basketball team gone on to achieve since the series wrapped up?

Coach John Mosley and his assistant coaches Ken Hunter and Rob Robinson all remain at ELAC, but a high number of players went on to secure offers elsewhere, with a lot of them even ending up at Division I schools, including Joe Hampton, a player returning to the Division I stage after a several year struggle with injury and adversity.

Joe Hampton – Long Beach State

A post shared by BlueChip (@bluechipteam)

Joe Hampton made his intentions extremely clear whilst appearing on Last Chance U; he ultimately wants a professional career in basketball and is more than prepared to move overseas if that’s what it’ll take to make that dream happen. Although clearly frustrated with the way that things have worked out for him in recent years, he has now found his way back to Division I and after a successful stint with ELAC he now seems to be doing pretty well for himself with Long Beach State.

Deshaun Highler – Sacramento State

Another player that’s been through a lot in recent years, Deshaun Highler showed himself to be an absolutely fantastic leader whilst appearing on Last Chance U: Basketball, and seems to have an extremely mature head on his shoulders. He’s currently with the Sacramento State Hornets, playing in the Big Sky Conference.

Malik Muhammad – Central Michigan University

A big guy with an even bigger personality, Malik Muhammad is another player from the ELAC Class of 2020 that has been able to make his way to the NCAA Division I level and he’s currently playing for the Central Michigan University Chippewas.

KJ Allen – Texas Tech

A post shared by Kj Allen (@kj.allen32)

With his aggressive style and undeniable talent, KJ Allen is definitely a baller to watch out for in the future. After finishing up at ELAC he has also now entered the Division I stage, ultimately committing to Texas Tech. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what he can now go on to achieve with the Red Raiders.

LJ Zeigler/Jordan Polynice – Chicago State University

Happy birthday to men’s basketball player Jordan Polynice! 🎂 pic.twitter.com/p7qhCQM8PT

LJ Zeigler and Jordan Polynice can both be found repping the green and white of the Chicago State Cougars in the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference.

Marquis Copeland – Nyack College

And last but by no means least, Marquis Copeland is now in New York City playing Division II basketball at Nyack College where he’s majoring in Psychology.
