July 14, 2021 by Rich Leave a Comment

  • NBA 2K22 75th Anniversary Edition
  • NBA 2K22 Standard Edition

Cover stars have today been confirmed for NBA 2K22, with two-time NBA All-Star Luka Dončić all set to grace the Standard Edition, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant fronting the 75th Anniversary Edition, and history being made as Chicago Sky’s Candace Parker becomes the first ever female cover star in the NBA 2K series.

Candace Parker had the following to say on Twitter about the news:

Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K

I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow 💪🏽💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/WJan4YE7Qt

Since the WNBA was first added to the game back in NBA 2K20, 2K Sports has continued to keep pushing forward with its focus on the WNBA, and this latest move to feature a female cover star for the very first time highlights the companies continued focus to keep pushing and forefront the women’s game in its NBA 2K video game series.

There will also be an additional region specific variant of the game in Japan where players will be able to purchase a special version of the Standard Edition that features Washington Wizards Rui Hachimura, the first ever Japanese player to be drafted in the first round and also the first Japanese player to ever reach the NBA Playoffs.

All editions of NBA 2K22 are scheduled for worldwide release on September 10th 2021.
