Union J to change name to Union XY

October 4, 2013 by Rich Leave a Comment

Union XY

To celebrate the release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, on October 12th the British boy band Union J will change their name for one day only to Union XY.

The four members of Union J have long been fans of the Pokémon franchise and are therefore very excited to be getting involved with the launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y by briefly giving their band name a Pokémon inspired evolution.

The band made an official statement earlier today where band member George Shelley had the following to say:

We’ve always loved Pokémon and it was a massive part of my childhood, I’m hooked on it. When I was telling the rest of the band how excited I was about playing Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, the idea to change our name just came to me. It’s so cool to be part of the game in some way; it feels like a natural fit.

Pokémon X and Y will be officially released worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS on October 12th.
