The Hold Steady – Chips Ahoy

November 15, 2006 by Rich Leave a Comment

In an age where straight up rock ‘n’ roll bands are hard to come by, The Hold Steady are a breath of fresh air in a stagnant scene. With their new album ‘Boys and Girls In America’ due out in January, ‘Chips Ahoy’ gives us a good idea of the sort of thing we can expect from the album. This one will soon have you singing along and appreciating the amusing tale of a guy, girl, and a horse – trust me on this one. If rock ‘n’ roll is your thing then The Hold Steady will more than likely impress with their uniquely amusing lyrics, strong guitar riffs and impressive back beat. I wasn’t quite sure what I would make of this band, however ‘Chips Ahoy’ is a thoroughly enjoyable single which will be continuing to do the rounds on my CD player for some time yet. January 15th will not come a moment too soon and I genuinely can’t wait to get my hands on the bands album as if every track on the album is as good as this one then I’m sure to be in for a treat, as are you if you check this one out.
