X-Factor Final Sees Joe Face Olly

Olly Murs is up against Joe McElderry in the X-Factor Final 2009, and bookies favourite Joe may just have to step it up a gear if he’s to win the public over with his final performance tomorrow. Stacey Solomon was the unlucky contestant to just miss out and finish third, and now that Stacey is out of the running; the whole of Essex may just be getting behind Olly as he looks to beat off Joe and emerge as the X-Factor Champion 2009.

It’ll be a phenomenal achievement for former call centre worker Olly Murs if he is able to win the X-Factor, regardless of who wins the show tomorrow however Olly Murs’ life will surely be changed forever and a return to the call centre seems somewhat unlikely. Murs performed with Robbie Williams for the December 12th X-Factor show, and if Simon Cowell has his way then it’ll only be a matter of time before Olly Murs himself is a successful solo pop star.

Both Joe and Olly will be feeling the nerves as they prepare for the final show, they’ll both be aiming to channel any pressure into a positive performance though, and it’s not long now before we find out who will emerge victorious as the X-Factor champion 2009.

Jamie Loses Out to Lloyd in X-Factor Deadlock

Jamie Archer’s X-Factor dream came to an end this week as he lost out to Lloyd Daniels on the public vote. With Simon and Dannii opting to send Lloyd home, and Cheryl and Louie pushing for a Jamie Afro exit, the decision of who was to go therefore went down to the public vote and it was ultimately Jamie Archer that lost his place in the competition.

Neither act gave a particularly spectacular performance on the live show, and it was probably right that it was these two in the bottom, Lloyd has been riding his luck for some time however and is fortunate to still be in with a chance of winning the competition.

Jamie’s stint on the X-Factor is now over, and we’ll now just have to wait and see if he was right when he stated his belief that “it’s not the end, it’s the beginning”. Simon Cowell has faith in Jamie Archer’s ability to succeed, and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not this is indeed the last we ever hear of Jamie Archer.

X-Factor Controversy: The Saving of John and Edward (Jedward)

Simon Cowell prompted great anger across the land on Sunday night when he took the elimination decision to the public vote. With Lucie Jones up against John and Edward Grimes, Louie voted to save his own act by sending home Lucie, Cheryl and Dannii meanwhile both opted to send home the twins. With the final vote once again falling to Simon, Simon Cowell for the second week running decided to put it to the public, reasoning that he didn’t think either act could win so out of curiosity he would like to see which act the public would most like to see back. Lucie Jones it was discovered received the least public votes, John and Edward meanwhile will be back to sing again in the competition next Saturday.

With Simon Cowell having criticised John and Edward’s lack of vocal talent each week leading up to this point, many therefore expected him to take this opportunity to get rid of the twins; the fact that he didn’t wasn’t exactly met with the most positive reaction in the world. Frustrations were sounded on Twitter, Facebook groups were formed, and an X-Factor boycott was threatened, all because Simon let the public choose which act got to remain in the competition.

Did the right act of the two of them leave? Arguably, yes. Lucie Jones was the artist that received the least public support, definitely didn’t give the final performance her all, and just didn’t have the same life and energy that John and Edward did. You can tell that John and Edward really want this; they’re not the greatest singers in the world and they never will be, they can never be accused of not giving it their all though, and it’s good to see real passion triumphing over people that just seem content to coast through on their looks without putting in any real effort.

Lloyd got a break from being in the bottom two this week, next week though his time could well be up.

The End of the X-Factor Road for Miss Frank

In the bottom two on the X-Factor this week with the least public votes were Miss Frank and Danyl Johnson. Neither had given a bad account of themselves on the show this week so the bottom two was quite difficult to understand, these were the two artists in the bottom two nonetheless though, and it was ultimately these two acts that had to sing for survival in the competition.

‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’ was Miss Frank’s track of choice for the sing-off, Danyl Johnson meanwhile opted to sing his audition piece ‘A Little Help From My Friends’. Both sung their hearts out for what would be the last time for one of them, and it was then down to the judge’s to decide who they were going to choose to send home.

With Simon and Louie both choosing to save their own artist’s, it was then down to Dannii and Cheryl to make their decisions. Dannii was first to have her say, deciding to send home Miss Frank, and with Cheryl holding the final vote she decided to send home Danyl so as to take it to a deadlock.

With the artist with the least public votes now facing elimination, it was ultimately Miss Frank that had to say their goodbyes as they left the competition.

Louie now only has one act left in the competition (John and Edward), Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue both still have all of their initial three artists remaining, and Cheryl Cole has two.

X-Factor Twins John and Edward

During the X-Factor audition process I was always hoping to see the last of John and Edward. I was disappointed when they managed to make it all the way through to Boot Camp, but also realised when they made it that far and ended up in Louie’s group that there was a very good chance that they’d ultimately make it through to the live shows.

Sure enough, John and Edward were indeed one of Louie’s three chosen groups, and have now fought their way through to survive two live shows and perform for a third.

Since the start of the live shows, John and Edward have very quickly won me over, and now stand strong as my very favourite act in the competition. Last week’s Britney Spears cover made me smile more than I had done for a long time, and when John and Edward’s safety in the competition was confirmed I was very glad that they’d be back for at least one more week on the X-Factor.

John and Edward are certainly not the best singer’s in the competition, they’re two young guys that are clearly incredibly excited to have made it to the X-Factor live shows however, and every week when they get up on that stage they very much appear to be having a lot of fun. In terms of entertainment provided, John and Edward are the best that the X-Factor has to offer this year, and whilst they may receive boo’s from certain members of the X-Factor live audience; there are plenty of people out there that do like this Irish duo, and Cheryl Cole put it perfectly this evening when she described them as her guilty pleasure.

For the look of absolute horror that it’d put on the face of Simon Cowell, I’d absolutely love to see John and Edward win the X-Factor 2009. I don’t think they will be able to win the whole competition, and if they do ever end up in the bottom two then their chances of remaining in the X-Factor are incredibly slim; for the time being I’m enjoying the John and Edward show though, and will be bitterly disappointed if/when the time does come that they’re forced to leave the competition.

A vote for John and Edward is a vote to keep entertainment in the X-Factor, and tomorrow evening we will hopefully learn that John and Edward are safe to sing again, returning for a fourth week on the X-Factor.
